The penny witnessed the 1st U.S President.
The penny witnessed Slavery.
The penny witnessed the Civil War.
The penny witnessed the Great Depression.
The penny witnessed 9/11.

But after 233 years on this planet...
It never witnessed a Shamecocks Natty
Go tigers!

yeah i know they were all copper before 1982, so worth 3 or 5 cents now, you should search rare year nickle, dimes, quarters, half dollars......wouldn't be surprised if thousand and tens of thousands of dollars of (rare single) coins have passed through many peoples fingers here totally unaware.

some of you probably put 10-20k in a drink machine thinking you put 50 cents, probably best you were unaware in retrospect.

just a few pennies. But I think it makes complete sense to do away with the penny, especially considering that it cost more to make one than it's worth.

They could have changed the composition

The penny is zinc clad in copper. The price of zinc has gone up over time, so it's worth more than the face value of the coin. The nickel costs over twice its value to make because it is mostly nickel. It could end up on the chopping block too. If they changed it to copru-nickel alloy like the dime, quarter, and half dollar, it would cost less to make. That would make the most sense to me, but with this administration, who knows?

This post made me go through my pennies. I only found one older one, a 1943 copper one, not zinc
like the new ones. I think I'll take 'em to the coin machine and get me a Wal-Mart gift card.

A little bit of history about Slavery. The practice has always been a part of life. But closer to the past 300 to 500 years, Slavery was prevalent in Africa. Blacks selling Blacks, Whites and other Races to Arab countries who in turn sold them throughout the world.

Many of of the largest slave owners were of several different race’s. Slavery, human trafficking and inhumane treatment of humans is even going on today.

May God have mercy and compassion on the World of today.

I have no idea about what some of the inhumane actions my family members may have been a part of 300 plus years ago.

My Mom and Dad taught me to make my life as much like God’s Character as possible. I believe most people are raised that way. Unfortunately, there are some consumed by greed, power, selfishness and status. They use their 💰💰💰, power and influence to create division among many different race’s. They use hate to further line their pockets with more $$$ and influence. Some of our trusted politicians fall pray to greed, desire for power and influence.

It’s up to us to unite together to make this a better world. JFK said in his speech “ Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what you can do for your country “ 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Maybe we should remember that and put JFK’s challenge into practice 🇺🇸

Stop dwelling on all the mistakes of the past and learn from them. Make our country The United States an example. It starts by draining the swamp in DC. It’s important that Washington DC never becomes a State. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Some Pennie’s around 1940-41 were made out of steel so the other metals could be used for the war. I understand they may be valuable.
