Best home game environment since 2016 Louisville. Caught up with a bunch of folks I hadn't seen in a while. Made some new friends. Bought the wife and I some new gear. Got a workout in yelling for all four quarters.

Will be taking my son to his first ever Clemson game next week. Life's good, man.

I guess life gives you perspective. In my 20's I would have been virtually inconsolable after a game like that. After the 4th down incompletion I shook hands with the LSU fans in my section and walked out with my head held high. They were very respectful and said our crowd and stadium are "second to none."

We live to fight another day. I wouldn't want to be anything but a Clemson Tiger. See you next week.

Seeing friends and being with family woulf.make it great. Other than that it would suvk to make that trek as far as the football aspect goes. That game absolutely sucked. As far as social hour it was probably great. That will be a great experience with bringing a son. That sounds great.

The offense was frustrating, but game was exciting.

Defense was juiced up and making plays all over the field. Crowd was off the chain.

We as board and society have got to stop overreacting so much. Had we scored at the end and somehow won that game then all of a sudden we're one of the best teams in the country. Today we stink. Regardless, we need to continue to improve as the season progresses. The reality is that I'm a Clemson fan regardless of the outcome so I will continue to do my part as a fan. That's all I can do.

Complaining has never had much of a positive impact in my life.

No doubt. It doesn't help anything at all.. Being objective doesn't hurt anything either. That said, the party was probably great.

Losing more often at home. Losing more often when leading at the half. Not winning the big games.

However, that doesn't really impact what I do and how I approach it as a fan. Clemson football is an experience I can share with friends and family. Hoping Dabo can get us back to an elite level. But I'm certainly not going to invest my joy in him doing so.

But anyone who is over the age of 30 that is genuinely distraught by these games probably needs to seek some therapy.

Likely indicative of a more deeply rooted issue.

They are definitely a spirited bunch but we had a good time in my section going back and forth with them.

Then again I'm kind of a rare fan in the sense that I always give credit where credit is due when the other team makes a great play. A couple of those throws Nuss made were not defendable. So I would give my props and then proceed to talk trash 😎

Yea. Everything about the day except the outcome of the game was beautiful. We set up our tailgate in Jervey Meadows in time to see kickoff of the Texas/ Ohio St game and spent the day welcoming friends and just enjoying the day. The stadium was loud and full (a few too many LSU fans for my liking). Just couldn’t get the offense going.
We talked to an LSU fan after the game who said they go to every away game and this was by far the friendliest place they have ever gone. He also noted that it was a very family friendly atmosphere and said if we go to Baton Rouge next year we will be in for a culture shock because tailgating there is very adult oriented, raucous and not a place he would take kids. Sounds like they have fun but just a completely different environment.

Which is great. If you’re in your 30s you’ve seen plenty of great Clemson moments and legacy wins to remember fondly.

However current Clemson students don’t have that. It’s been several years now that we’ve had a Real legacy win we can be proud of. It’s now multiple big games in a row we’ve lost.

Someone next to me said “I’m so excited for these students tonight. This is going to be their Notre Dame or Louisville game that they will talk about for years after this.” And sure winning isn’t the entire part of memories and what makes going to the games special, but it is a big part of creating the memorable legacy games.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My perspective actually comes from when we were absolutely awful

Hatfield years. Nealon Greene. Brandon Streeter. Aaron Kelly dropping the pass against BC to send us to our first ACCCG. Calvin Johnson abusing us twice within two minutes to steal a win (by the way this is still the most crushing loss I've ever experienced in Death Valley and nothing else will come close).

After we won ACCCG in 2011 I told my pops I can now die happy since we finally won the conference in a year I can actually attend and remember. Everything else was icing on the cake.

From what I saw yesterday these new Clemson students could use some humbling. Maybe they need to suffer a few lean years (or decades) like I did 😎. Makes the wins much more sweet.

Brought my 15 year old son to the game yesterday all the way from Texas. We screamed and laughed and ate Funyuns at 2am. He asked if all colleges had this many pretty girls. I told him the truth - no. We talked about life and football. I showed him where my wife/his mom and I met even though he’d seen it before. We talked about parties and beer and why they don’t always lead to the best decisions. We talked about his future. We talked about my past. We watched boys/men not too much older than him slug it out on a 120-yard field while more than 80k people watched in awe from the stands. We saw F-15s flyover. We saw great ones get recognized and some real American heroes get honored. Rather than waiting on a shuttle, we walked the two miles or so back to our crappy electric blue rental car passed Seneca Creek Meadows. We even ran part of the way but it turns out the 30 years between us wouldn’t allow me to move as fast or for as long as he could. So we lost a game. And that sucked. But we made a memory and isn’t that some of what makes Clemson so special? I hope you, your beautiful bride and your son make some next weekend.

Great post, brother! Appreciate this and your mature perspective. It is what it is and we don't have too much control over how the team performs. But I will be here pulling for them all the way win lose or draw just like I have been doing since I was in diapers.

Hope your son has a blast next week. My two little girls had the time of their lives at their first Clemson game against Furman in 18'. I was so proud to be walking around Clemson with them. Made me think of my dad and grandad taking me to games when I was their age and here I am many years later passing on the tradition.
