David Hood, DJ only has 1 Playing YEAR LEFT

DJ has played in more than 4 games in each of 2020-2021-2022, so 3 years total now. So after 2022, DJ has only ONE YEAR of eligibility left. You only get 4 YEARS total of Playing NCAA football. You can spread those 4 years over 5 years/RedShirt or 6 years/COVID). https://www.ncsasports.org/Visit NCSA for college sports recruiting and scholarship info. 2020 did count. You still only get 4 YEARS of PLAYING. You can spread those years out over for 5 years (if Redshirt) or 6 years if you played in 2020, but still only a maximum of 4 years PLAYED. And DJ played in more than 4 games in 2020-2021-2022. Read this carefully: https://www.ncsasports.org/coronavirus-

READ THIS: You only get 4 years of playing Max

READ THIS: You only get 4 years of playing Max: “What does an extra year of eligibility mean? All student athletes whose 2020-2021 season was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic will now get 6 years to compete in (((4 FULL SEASONS))) of their sport in college. Traditionally, there is a 5-year clock for athletes to PLAY 4 YEARS. For seniors, this ruling meant a chance to finish out their college careers. For others, it opens a door to new academic and athletic opportunities.” ===== That’s why DJ only has ONE year of eligibility remaining after this 2022 season… https://www.ncsasports.org/coronavirus-sports/ncaa-eligibility-coronavirusNCAA Extra Year of Eligibility Learn more about the NCAA decision to grant an extra year of eligibility relief to Division 1, 2 and 3 athletes due to COVID-19.

There are 2 scenarios. This is different and gives the extra year of playing.
Division I COVID-19 Self-Applied Waiver Relief for Season of Competition and Extension of Eligibility
2020-21 FALL/WINTER SPORTS
Season of Competition (Restores season used; does not provide bonus/extra season)
1) SA used season; —AND— 2) SA was otherwise eligible to compete. RESULT: SA’s season of competition for fall 2020/ winter 2021 restored. Note: Applies regardless of the amount of competition.
Extension of Eligibility (Applies on a sport-by-sport basis)
1) SA was otherwise eligible to compete either when season: (a) occurred, or (b) was reasonably expected to take place; —AND— (either No. 2 or 3 apply) 2) SA qualifies for season of competition waiver; —OR— 3) SA unable/elects not to compete. RESULT: Extends SA’s period of eligibility in fall 2020/winter 2021 sport by one year. Must be used at first available opportunity.

I was wrong: DJ MOST DEFINITELY has 2 Years left AFTER this

I am wrong about this. The NCAA articles I found said maximum 4 YEARS playing, which you can spread over 5 or 6 years, but clearly the 2020/COVID year just totally didn’t count, as another poster said. I proved this by looking up BT POTTER. He most definitely played 5 FULL SEASONS, 2018-2022. My apologies for taking those articles at face value. So, DJ MOST DEFINITELY has 2 Years left AFTER this year. Again, my apologies. But it's on the coaching staff to recognize that and make the necessary adjustments. They didn't do that. They blew it. DJ (or any other starting QB) is unlikely to bench himself. That's the responsibility of the head coach. Curious to see what Dabo does moving forward. CK should definitely see some significant action in the next two games...
