But I can't argue with the story line of a Bama/AU rematch. You would have two rivals with unbelievable hatred towards each other. It would be a rematch of an unbelievably great game with a historic ending. I can see how sports writers would be salivating over seeing that matchup for the national title. Oh and by the way, it can't happen without Duke winning and MSU beating OSU anyway. It's not like they're saying Bama and AU should jump the two unbeatens for a rematch.
Does anyone truly feel like it wouldn't be a great game? I know I would watch it.

would have losses as well. So who would be more deserving of playing for the national championship? Auburn would be a given since they are the highest ranked 1-loss team and the SEC Champs (if they beat Mizzou). After that...who?

with OSU vs FSU. But the point of the original post was talking about ESPN's article on an iron bowl rematch. And that would only happen if FSU and OSU lose their respective championship games.

rankings were pretty high... due their superior Vodka, but they routinely took a hit in the human polls. The Berlin Wall collapse ultimately paved the way for Clemson to overtake them.
Oregon State is a different situation. The loss over Oregon was so impressive, that voters will likely remember the color orange and move us up, b/c after all, we are orange.

Unfair to Auburn, no matter how you look at it or how it happened they beat Bama. How would it be fair to ask them to go out and beat someone they have already beaten before? I'm deff no war eagle fan but I feel like that would just be a slap in the face to them.

then I don't think Bama gets back to the title game. Bama's hopes lie in having their only loss being on the road against the #1 team in the nation.
But if all that does happen, we'll be stuck with a title game that blows big time. I say put in MSU vs Duke!
