Is the goal of every decent show to massively mind-F the audience and leave them annoyed in the show’s last episode, with nary a whit of satisfaction? Is that the handbook now?

was especially out of character for anyone involved. Everybody pretty much acted in their own self-interest, as usual. If I'm Matsson or anyone coming from the outside, it makes total sense to NOT stick with any of the kids. Tom is competent (we are told), eager to please whoever is above him, and not a total outsider.

Tom had already fully realized the possible extents of the Peter principle. He was failing massively and in over his head in the role he was already given. Even given what Mattson was looking for, there’s not a person on Earth that would have made him a CEO. He was just as big a d-bag as the rest of them and didn’t deserve to come out doing well in the end.
If there were two people I’d have liked to see pull out of their tailspins, it would have been Roman or Greg, ideally with Greg having some level of authority over Tom.
Having Tom come out “on top” just ruined it completely, and I think I hated Shiv more than any of them, so her having all the power at the final decision was annoying too.
Well written episode though that I enjoyed up until the last 5 minutes or so.

There were some throughout the seasons of course, but as is the case with good writing, I didn’t even think about it, vs Ted Lasso’s sophomoric “LOOK WE HAVE HOMOS GALORE IN OUR TRAINWRECK OF A PLOT, ADORE US!!!”

Logan’s demise was fairly momentous. Unfortunately his absence was glaring after that point in terms of the entertainment value of the show.

I'm gonna pop a gummie and get into this with you. What would be your ideal conclusion for this show? Because as recent high profile endings go -- Game of Thrones, Ozark, something else -- I found this one quite satisfying and realistic. HOWEVER, before throwing stones, I want to hear what you would have done had you been in the writer's room.
PS - I'm still salty over how Ozarks ended. But I also didn't like the show. Entertaining, yes. But written terribly.
