Is Neff the second coming of Bobby Robinson?

they seem similar with the business backgrounds. Robinson was just an extension of the administration and did their bidding. Is this a fair comparison?

Way too early to tell, but if true, the administration is…

the issue then. Whoever that is. Keep in mind, Bobby Robinson was a total tool and had zero power if not for the board of directors and the President of the university at the time. If Neff turns out to be a tool too, blame the board and the President because he serves at their pleasure.
All that said, I still think it is too early to cast aspersions.

worst basketball program in the ACC over the last 60 years. I know this thread is supposed to be about what a tool Bobby Robinson was, and I don't want to ruin anybody's fun there, but he nor any other AD are or will be the reason Clemson basketball has never been taken seriously by anyone outside of Clemson, and in that sense, every AD is at the mercy of the BOT and the admin to whom they must answer and who controls the purse strings.

They have a fallback or two, what with multiple National

Championships in football and now soccer, not to mention improved academic standing, so I don't know if firing is in the cards, but they are the ones we need to appeal to, along with Neff. I honestly like Brownell and think he's a good coach. Yes, we're way past time for a coaching change, but I'm just pointing out that aside fronm a few decent years here and there, Clemson basketball has sucked ace for 60 years, and our problems did not start with Brownell, and they won't end when we get rid of him if we don't hold the BOT and admin accountable. Let them know that we know that they are a big part of the problem and any potential solution, that Clemson deserves better, and that the program needs a fresh start with a new head coach and an influx of money to get us up to snuff with similar schools. If we just keep focusing on screaming at and about Brownell we'll be right back in the same boat.

Clemson’s spending on basketball last year was just 1.3 million less than UNC. I’d say that’s not shabby, along with the promised funding for future years from Neff. If money can solve the problem then Clemson should be a perennial NCAAT team.

One million can afford better assistants and more staff, which are critical to a program's success. And that doesn't include facillities, which were lagging at Clemson for some time until the recent facelift at Littlejohn. Besides, we sitll get considerably outspent by many if not most schools we compete against on a regular basis:
https://www.tigernet.com/clemson-forum/thread/in-case-you-are-curious-what-we-spend-on-basketball-at-clemson-2134185
Again, I've been advocating a coaching change for a long time; we can't possibly move forward under Brownell. The right coach can make a huge difference, but the right coach can only do so much if he isn't given the tools to work with, and that takes $$$, and we will struggle to attract and retain that coach if we don't demonstrate the proper financial commitment.

Money won’t solve the problem necessarily

but not spending more ensures that we will never be a consistent winner in basketball. Evidence for that is in the 100+ years of men’s basketball at Clemson.
Comparing our spending to other ACC schools is only part of how we must look at this situation. We aren’t only spending a lot less than most ACC schools when it comes to basketball, but we also have a much worse history. It can be argued that we need to not only spend what most other ACC schools are spending, but spend MORE to overcome our poor basketball history and our reputation as a football school that doesn’t care about basketball.

You are not considering all the under the table money "friends of the program" at successful schools spend on basketball to "help out" the families of players.
I don't think we have that at Clemson but it's public that it happens at UNC and Duke.

No, it's not fair to compare. Neff has only been AD for 3/4 months.
