ACC Officiating

There were at least 2 impactful calls last night, but I'll take the win.

1. on the Cardinals long pass completion that the receiver was ruled ob on the one was actually a fumble over the pylon and on through the end zone. Should have been Clemson ball on the 20. The announcers even said so but the ref's gave them the ball at the one.

2. on Clemson's last series trying to run out the clock but had to punt, Louisville was called for defensive holding in the line and was penalizes 10 yds at the end of the play. According to google AI, it should have been a 10 yard penalty from the previous spot and automatic 1st down for Clemson.

In the end, we won, but ACC officiating is atrocious.

There has definitely been some impactful calls this year, more than usual it seems.

On your second point, I believe the penalty was enforced correctly. I’ve never seen a hold on the receiving team enforced from the line of scrimmage and result in a first down for the kicking team.

1) on the almost TD /fumble play. I think you are right, but the refs also missed calling a horse collar tackle on Hannifin. If they correctly call that and correctly call the fumble, then the penalty negates the fumble. So in the end, two bad reffing calls evened out.
2) if you are talking about the holding during the punt, then they assessed it correctly. It is always assessed after the return. Defensive holding on a receiver is a different penalty and since we weren't running a punt fake, was not possible to call.

I think the holding has to be BEFORE the ball has been kicked...***

Officials are professionals and do the best job they can. I can assure you that none of us could handle the responsibility of being a P4 official.

Why did they review our last touchdown?

and why the heck did it take so long to "uphold" the play. He was laying in the end zone?

Rough calls are going to happen, glad we did not get whistled for a bogus defensive pass interference call like the past two games.

ALL IN!!

maybe LU called for review instead of faking an injury to get more time to assess, since they were out of timeouts

#1 was too close to overturn

You are wrong about #2
