to suggest that conservatives suck at picking our elected leaders? They had a lineup of ten guys to choose from. One of them was far and away the best candidate they have produced n years named John Kasich. But they went with the clown instead. I guess being easily duped and giving into fear is not helping this party decide who to put in office.
queue the "but but but Hillary".

Add "and Bernie." it becomes even more noteworthy.
I'm not defending Trump or the Republicans who selected him. But for goodness sake...at least the Pubs had some choices. No one could even be heard on the Democrat side except for Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Seriously, think about that. That is terrible.

There are at least four kinds of republicans right now compared to basically moderate (Hillary) and far left (Bernie) democrats. While he may be horrible, Trump grasped the thing that conservatives have in common. They felt like the government wasn't working for them.
Just my opinion.

My opinion is that Trump is just the pendulum of Obama swinging the other way. The strange thing is people thinking that President Trump is a conservative in any way shape or form.

Also, people were wanting someone who didn't fall in line with the status quo-like Trump and Bernie. They both fought resentment within their respective parties.

You mean from a pragmatic, competent persona who loves the USA to a bloviating failure of epic stupidity who sold us to Russia kind of pendulum?

The sum of votes for...
May 12, 2017, 2:52 PM
|

Cruz, Rubio, and Kasich was over 50% of total. I think the mainline conservative vote shifted throughout the primary based on who was left standing.
I voted for Rubio in the primary and did not vote for Trump in the general.

Martin O'Malley was in the primaries (some primaries)
Lincoln Chafee, Jim Webb, Lawrence Lessig all declared and ran, but I'm not sure any of them ever made to an actual vote. They were certainly in debates.

they are going to have to work on their ring antics if they expect to get any coverage during the primaries. Had one of them thrown a chair at reporters, I guarantee they would have had a better chance of even competing.
