A solid, experienced gameday head coach

Nov 24, 2014, 11:22 AM

Wins at home against an unranked rival with his back-up QB and the #1 defense in the country. By 7-10 points. Case closed. Defense wins (state) championships.

Dabo has been an exceptional program builder, recruiter and all around good guy. Saturday is his first chance to win one from pure coaching chops for his boys.

The LSU and OSU wins in my opinion were won by Tajh, Sammy, et al...

Deshaun can watch this one from the sideline. If he gets hurt for a third time this year at the very least it would be bad from a PR standpoint for Dabo. DW needs another offseason to heal and grow by another 5-10 lbs.

Stare down the old Ball Coach and take your back up QB and your defense and your 84,000 in Death Valley and smother 'em.

Depends on who the backup QB is

Not all backups are created equal. And TBH, Cole was really the 3rd best QB on our roster this spring. Don't care what crap Chad feeds us.

young: may I add to your excellent post saying Dabo must not let Chad call plays that stop what is working at a given point min the game.

Not if his back up qb doesn't know the other teams jerseys and throws 2 pick sixes.
You maybe a solid head coach, but when your qb pulls two,let alone one boner you need to know to pull him.

i think it's the HC's job to have a solid QB2

Nov 24, 2014, 11:58 AM

cole for the most part got the job done, in rather unglamorous fashion - got almost all the W's with the exception of GT, which I think we're all trying to forget.

Let's be honest, this season was over when the final whistle blew in Tallahassee. the priority from that point forward should have been to get DW some experience while he put on some weight for next year when our big games are at home and he's a year more ready.

As to whether this whole equations would be different if we started DW in week 1 against UGA, well, that's in the past and only speculation. Here's what is true: DW suffered three distinct serious injuries in calendar year 2014. he was not going to make it through this year unharmed in any case. It's very important he doesn't get a 4th, potentially more serious injury.

If we can't bead USC at home with the #1 defense and our back-up QB, who's played way more games than our starter this year, then that's on the HC, in my opinion.

As for Morris, i really don't know what to say.
