Did we really need this right now? If we don’t turn this around quickly, the late night comedy shows will be next.

He wants the attention on himself and the nation doubting the team. Will it work, who knows. Is it better than them doubting themselves. Yes

He wants attention on himself and the program. It accomplishes (or hopes to accomplish) a few things:
1. Rally his players. 2. Create disrespect. 3. Clearly delineate us vs. them. 4. Drive away those he doesn’t think are true supporters.

Agreed.
Not his role to determine fans. Its not his role or what he is being paid to do.
Control what you can control ignore the other. You want ppl not to be pissed abt the multi-year slide---then coach where ppl dont care.

I think some of you living in the Carolina’s orange bubble don’t really understand how Clemson is viewed outside of it. I’ve lived in Arizona for the past 21 years and SF for 5 years before that. To the casual fan, Dabo is Clemson. How he acts and responds tends to be the way people view Clemson and his program who don’t really know us.
He isn’t shielding the players from anything. Call it what it is, he lost a little cool and the fangs came out. And he will double down and add even more pressure as he tries to focus on fixing what’s wrong.
He and the program really don’t need added spotlight. To the casual observer we look dysfunctional and disjointed, and my concern is that recruits and their parents read and hear this stuff, and other schools magnify it to make it sound worse than it is.
But then again, we acquiese to the Dabo way because it has been so good to us in the past.
Now, we have to hope it is again.

Its not just that article...its the whole national media.
Another unforced error. Completely unnecessary. Nothing positive from it. NADA. Never go after the fans--it almost always never ends well.
Ignore the bait, say you and staff and working hard to improve and move on. He did well Sunday, shocked he is repeating this mistake again as he first did with Tyler. There are much better ways of handling it.

I think his treatment of this slow start is perfectly normal. Nobody who knows the guy and his work ethic will ever accuse him of laying back , resting on his laurels. There are myriad issues with the team currently , but does anyone e think that Dabo Swinney doesn't want to fix this more than anybody out there complaining and blaming ? Trust the process. Dayum watcha herd !

That’s why we aren’t paying any of those coaches $11m, we’re paying Dabo for what he’s demonstrated he is capable of the past, however the last 3-5 years he hasn’t lived up to his own standard. This whole “well it’s better than Hatfield era” is a garbage argument. Nobody before Dabo had the money, resources, and university backing this man has, and with all that comes an expectation of real on field results, results we are currently not seeing

Were we head and shoulders above the rest of the ACC then in support and advantages then like we are now?
Two totally different situations.

I don't know if Dabo is willing to fix it, as he would have to radically go against his beliefs about the current state of College football(i.e. increase his use of the transfer portal, also allow younger players to play sooner).

I just don’t believe he knows how.
But he thinks/has thought that he has the answers.
Really might be starting to set in, thus his defensiveness.

I think he sees it as a moral failing to use the portal since that means someone has to leave the program or fire "family" means he wasn't a good enough of a mentor and that's his fault not the assistant's fault. As a person thats an incredible life perspective but life isn't so black and white. Someone in the inner circle needs to show the upside in the other way of doing things. demotions could be "tough love" I'm not saying every family/friend takes it for granted but I'm sure SOME do being on staff. And the portal is still an opportunity to change guys lives and have them FINISH a good education at Clemson.

Dabo will live on his past for the rest of his life. A person who lives on the past is not likely to make the necessary changes to start living in the present or the future. For any of you who thought he was ready to hang it up, forget it. He is never going to give up 60 million dollars.

Dabo did this just as he did before and what I heard Sabin do before...he has taken the focus/heat from the media and the NOT "All in fans" from his players and put it squarely on himself. Players see that he's got their backs and believes they can win as they have done for 15 years. That's my opinion...sly as a fox.

Honestly it felt like we played our best ball when no one gave us credit. I'm hoping we can go back to the roots of having an underdog mentality again. Even in 2018 when we played "the best bama team of all time" it felt like we got no respect despite being undefeated. Till we beat ND in 2015 all we heard the week leading up to that one was how the rain was gonna make things easier for ND in the trenches.
It FEELS like we're dying a slow death rather than building to another crescendo. We had our faults in the boyd era without a doubt but it felt like we could beat anyone on any given saturday. Now it feels like we're a big ol country club that could LOSE to anyone on any given saturday. Mail it in against the small teams get outplayed and out muscled by the big teams.
Blame the fans/media/NIL I don't care whatever it takes to WIN and have those guys playing their best.
I can't remember outside of the ND game in 23' when we won as a big underdog against a legit team in the post T-Law era. I think the FSU game will be the first opportunity to do so.
