Offensive coordinators Dabo should be reaching out to:
Sep 26, 2021, 8:40 AM
|

If he insists on keeping the "Clemson" connection, Willy Korn. Look what Coastal is doing on offense. Unique formations, lots of motion, tempo, WR's who block, they even run a triple option RPO from a pistol formation.
If he wants an outsider, then I'd go after Jeff Leby at Ole Miss.
Dennis Simmons at OU is another.

He’s only been out of college game for a year and some change now, and I think they’re only throwing him a mil or so per year, I don’t think it’s out of the question he could be bought and come back to the college game

We are obviously willing to spend money…

Any of those names would be nice but Dabo hasn’t proven he is willing to go outside the program since Todd Bates was hired. I think I am correct on that one.
Seems like entire offensive staff are buddies or former Clemson guys that had little coaching pedigree.
I hope he is willing to shake the tree like he did when he brought in Morris. It’s ok if we have some staff turnover. Bama turns staff over every other week it seems and they do just fine.
Get some fresh eyes on this thing before it’s too late and it costs us some recruits in future years.
The negative recruiting will be fierce this year.

The almost weekly harassment I get from IPTAY at my current donor level is crazy.....I can only imagine how many calls I'd get if we had to buy out Elliott LOL

paid assistant groundskeeper in the US.
No way we can keep him on. One of those boys at Coastal would gladly come up heard for $450-$800k.
Dabo can pay that out of his own pocket to fix this mess.

But I would add Matt Rule at UGA. Did a great job in a horrible situation at Ole Miss, is an OL coach at his core and has been at several programs that are elite each year.

Elliot is not going anywhere after this year. Buyout is unreal for an unproven coordinator but even without a huge buyout and ridiculous salary Dabo still keeps him one more year. We scored quite a few more points last year with TE calling plays. Not saying he's great but with a different QB we dropped 70 on Tech. Caldwell might be at the end. That's futility year after year so a long term trend of underperformance. Time will tell.

We need an elite OC. We need a hire similar to Venables. Someone who we can give full control.

Tony is working with 1)A new QB; 2)A pathetic OL;

3)WR's who tend to drop the balls that hit them in the numbers.
I think everyone can kind of shut up about Tony Elliott as an OC. Why is he calling the plays he's calling? Because he's having to work around the current dumpster fires that exist in areas he isn't even responsible for.

He coaches the tight ends and they can't catch or block. I disagree you can call some plays that help the QB out. The last play I would have rolled him out and then he can run for 5 yds or make a short pass by flooding the zone. What do we do throw a 50/50 pass.

I agree with you 100% on the tight ends. I know big men with hands are not exactly in great supply, but come on. We've got to be able to find tight ends because without them, we just don't have any short to middle routes for the QB.

And TE has been in charge of the offense while we recruited every one of them. So if they suck so much, why did we recruit them in the first place? More importantly, given this, why didn't TE work to design an offense that would put the players we have in the best position to succeed? Why stick with the same old play book from the last few years and simply pare it down to a handful of plays we run over and over again? TE accepted the credit and was financially rewarded when generational talent behind center made him look good. So now he has to deal with the consequences for an offense that is among the worst in power 5 football.

Yep. You’re right! It’s the players fault. Blame them. TE is the greatest and they all suck.

I don’t know if Chadwell would come. Sure Clemson can pay more, but right now he’s head coach and Coastal is BETTER than Clemson. He’s positioned to get the next big time HC job or just stay and be the Bobby Bowden of Coastal. Korn would probably come except that he’s in position to take over from Chadwell if he bails out.

I never thought that I would say that I would like to see Willy Korn back at Clemson, but at the moment I would. Don't know if it is him or Chadwell, but they are staying ahead of the curve. It could be a big change, but something needs to change.

Really think Coastal has a great offensive scheme using two backs makes little harder to key on Easy to key on our one back especially when you never run your QB We did away with a lot of Chads fluff and seems easy to defend us now especially with an immobile QB

Hire a brilliant non-Clemson guy who knows offense. Make sure he’s a good guy who sees the vision. Dabo can sell, so he should have no problem getting someone who is the right culture fit.

We seem to have gotten away from all the "window dressing", or "eye candy" motion pre-snap in our offense. This was a huge part of what made us successful. Get the defense looking and moving where they shouldn't be. THAT should be something that would be a relatively quick fix.
