So they are set up for a lawsuit if Clemson wanted.
But there have been other schools who have used the Trademarked Paw without repercussion.

That is Clemson’s paw. The scar at the bottom is a dead give away.

I think Clemson likes highschools using our logo.

So do I, perhaps everyone might want to know why.
I came out of a Walmart in Cleveland, TN and was met by a flock of little boys raising money for their baseball team. Of course we all wore Tiger Paws and they noticed mine instantly.
I don't remember what they were selling because the conversation soon moved from 'Will you buy...' To 'You're a Tiger fan!'
I told them I graduated from Clemson and gave them $5 bucks. Frankly, due to the Paw on my cap and my testimony of Clemson's greatness they paid verbal homage to me.
The moral is, those kids were in love with Clemson and they probably couldn't point it out on a map.
I think the University knows how much negativity goes with lawsuits against High Schools. Imagine taking one to court and the hate that would generate toward us. We would soon make national news and the interwebs would go nuts. The shots of HS kids grieving over losing the best logo on this planet would embarrass us without measure.
Clemson fans just aren't made that way!

It is absolutely trademark infringement unless they have permission and a license to use the original bengal Tiger print from 1977 officially owned by Clemson University. I believe the US and Canada honor copyright laws. If Clemson University and Cambridge Lions Football are not in a fair use agreement, international copyright treaties would apply.

Generally speaking, it is an infringement on Clemson's intellectual property rights. Clemson can grant permission when requested, require a licensing agreement or tell them to shut it down with a cease and desist. Regardless of the hook in the bottom of the paw, it looks similar enough to cause confusion in the market and allow enforcement by the trademark owner. I always assumed that most schools don't mind it too much and treat it as free advertising from a fairly benign user of the right. Those days may be changing though with continued focus on revenue.....

The Paw on the left side of the helmet is set at 10:00 but the one on the right is correct at 1:00.

Clemson allows high school (and younger) schools use the trademark. Often that means they sell sell Clemson items as their own (ie Clemson ends up getting royalty money as a result of the HS using the paw logo).
I have had a couple instances where people have stopped me when I was wearing something with a Clemson paw on it only to be asked if I was a fan of some random high school (occurred someplace not in the southeastern US) LOL

the only part that can be trademarked is the scar on the heel and this seems to be an exact copy of ours.
Probably small potatoes and nothing the AD will ever care about though

Don't high schools and small colleges kinda get away with it? I remember someone posted a small college that had copied Clemson's baseball jerseys a while back. And I know certain logos, like the Georgia/Green Bay Packers "G", are a pretty common cut-and-paste that I've seen for lots of high schools around here.

In a previous life, I designed and built athletic fields for an artificial turf company. High-end HS fields, colleges and a few NFL fields. You'd be surprised the amount of high schools that use exact replicas of bigger name's logos and mascots. Ours is quite common, but also Broncos, bears - the Ford Mustang logo is also pretty common.
As others have said, a big name school suing some little HS isn't a good look, so most of the time, the colleges would sell them the rights for a dollar, maybe slightly more. It's extremely common though and I wouldn't expect Clemson to drop the hammer on these schools - it's not a good look, from a PR standpoint.

Denied Harley Davidson - sound of a roaring motorcycle engine Bud - sound of a can opening Gene Simons - devil horns gesture Beyoncé - daughters name Blue Ivy
I might be dis-remembering but I believe mich is very protective of the their particular Block M, and have issued cease and desist letters to HS teams. They tried at one time to protect all block Ms but were denied.
