I still think if we can add West Virginia and USF, and Wake

Jul 19, 2022, 2:57 PM

and Duke upgrade their facilities, and Gene Corrigan comes back from the grave, and if Dabo and Doren get married and have a baby, and blah blah blah ... we can still hold the ACC together!!! Come on, all together now, ACC! ACC! ACC! ACC! ACC!...

Come on guys, enough with the endless, ridiculous scenarios. Dabo is laying it out. How much clearer can it be?

Don’t forget about Penn State. Every half-baked scheme seems to involve them magically giving up the money and security of the B1G to join the ACC GOR suicide pact.

Exactly. One doesn’t even have to read between the lines of Dabo’s statement. He’s telling us what’s going to happen. He’s just not given the details.

LMAO! Did you hear Dabo saying that kids don't play at a school bc of conference alignment, I hope that he knows that was a crock of bullchit bc, I would hope that out HC isn't that far out of touch. Recruits voice it all the time, that they're going to play in the SEC where players are bigger, stronger, faster, and easier to get into sec schools when they're not so smart!!!;)

He knew exactly what he was saying and was careful saying it. It was calculated. People go to Bama for Bama. Now others might go to other sec schools for the conference but not Bama and that was a dig at those schools. Same thing applies to people who go to Clemson and that is not due to the conference affiliation.

Exactly, we need about 25 recruits annually.
We need the right guys to play and graduate.
We offer and they Select Clemson! They are not mixed up kids!

Other schools make 200 offers, the scatter gun effect….

ACC or SEC Clemson will be Clemson. We will compete either place, and love it!

I think the ACC ends up as a basketball conference that has football.
We may end up in a SEC football conference…. With no soccer?

Take care of Clemson, let everyone else solve their own problems.

Coach Dabo didn't sound supportive of the ACC and the status quo.

and hope the payroll out doesn't exceed the income in..

which is the current fear since $30-$50 Mil a year can't keep up with $75-$100 Mil a year incomes from competitors~

Yep, Dabo sounds much different than the last time when Clemson and FSU were rumored to be leaving the ACC. He denied it if you recall. This time he is basically saying something is going to happen.

Dabo is right. We know what is going to happen. We don't know all the specific details. And, we don't know exactly when. And, when somebody tries to tell you that they know the specifics of who is going where and when they are going there, they are probably wrong.

It's sorta like Christians. We have read The Revelation. We know Jesus is gonna come back and judge the world. But, we disagree about the details of the rapture, the second coming, the tribulation, the millennium, the new heaven and the new earth, etc. And, when people try to tell us they know WHEN all this will happen, those of us who are wise do not take them too seriously. They may have an interesting theory, but they are probably wrong.

I don’t know about that, I can clearly see a path of deals

Jul 19, 2022, 3:35 PM

Leading to restructurings and contracts between schools happening. But that other stuff, I can’t see happening in a literal way.

This isn't exactly my feeling on the subject, but I've heard people say that Jesus was coming back to judge when H&11 freezes over. That doesn't make good sense to bc, there are a lot of people that live where everything is frozen, and going to H&11 wouldn't matter to them bc they are already use to living in a frozen place!!!

I watched the interview and thought he gave the perfect answer. The bottom line, no matter what happens, Clemson will still be Clemson, a very special place, an elite program that attracts top talent, wins championships and will forever remain superior to it's in-state rival. ??

Notice that Dabo said that President Clements and AD Neff

Jul 19, 2022, 3:59 PM

are the ones making these decisions along with conference commissioners.

Surprising, since TNet posters have said that Dabo is making all of the decisions. LULZ.

Well, that is true - they’ll make the decision, and I’m sure they’ve already discussed w/Dabo and welcomed his input/opinion. Make no mistake, this realignment train is football driven and Dabo is the conductor of Clemson’s football train.

2024 white level membermilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ive been trying to tell ppl this for a while now.....

Jul 19, 2022, 4:25 PM

there is NO WAY CLEM is staying in the ACC until 2036.

Again, IF the B1G and SEC want to control the playoff (hint: they do)...there is NO WAY they stay at 16 with the number of schools that matter not in those conferences.

Very thankful to have the current people in the leadership

Jul 19, 2022, 7:00 PM

positions at Clemson that we have today: President Clements, AD Neff, HC Swinney, the current Board of Trustees, and others.

We fans have no direct, and little indirect say in what will happen. So we might as well continue to support our Clemson as we have been - forgetting about all the others. If we take care of ourselves and do what we think is right for ourselves, we will be just fine regardless of what the future brings.

Re: TNET: Swinney on conference realignment: 'Most people know where college football is heading'

Jul 19, 2022, 7:54 PM

Yes, Dabo, of course no one went to Bama because they were in the SEC. Prior to the 1992 championship season, the SEC hadn't won the Natty since UGA's '81 season, and before that the last non-Bama SEC natty was in 1964.

SEC was trash in the 80s and early 90s

Re: TNET: Swinney on conference realignment: 'Most people know where college football is heading'

Jul 20, 2022, 1:41 AM

Since the conference realignment or whatever it turns out to be is about football, Coach Swinney must suspect more than he is saying. He would have to because nothing would be happening if the centerpiece wasn't football programs. I think he is honest in saying he doesn't know details, but my guess is that he has a rough idea of what will be the key factors that push Clemson into one spot or another. That is different than knowing where and when it all will happen, and I take him at his word that those issues are anyone's guess. The truth is that we think in terms of two super leagues, but by the time Clemson moves on to its next arrangement, the organizational chart for what's possible could look totally different. However things go, Clemson will not be in the ACC when the fog lifts. Money talks and teams walk.
