Can we create a new rule in politics?

If you're a major political leader, and you hold a public event where a bunch of religious leaders lay hands on you and pray around you (like our Gubnah McMaster just did) like you're some sort of idol, you're automatically removed from office?
I don't know, does that make God hear their prayers better?

intent.
When I was ordained as an elder in our Presbyterian Church, that was part of the process, with all the former elders coming forward to put a hand on the shoulders of those being ordained. I completely get it seeming weird from the outside but it was pretty moving as a symbol of those individuals trying to collectively request God's blessings on us as we tried to do the church's work, and I'm not easily moved.

Organize it as a public event and make sure your PR office put out pictures of it?
It's absurd grandstanding. Seven or eight people putting their hands on you as your PR folks click away.

No different than AOC's photo-op at a random gate with nothing on the other side.
Politicians don't drop a buck in the Salvation Army Christmas buckets without making sure there's a camera around first.

this event, but it sounds like a meeting with religious leaders. I can't see a way in which him willfully accepting their prayers is grounds for seeking to establish an official govt sanctioned religion for the state.

leaders is not something I find offensive.
Laying of hands on someone is not worshiping the person, it is praying that the person will receive what is being prayed for.
I think you're confusing praying FOR and praying TO?

There are times where this line appears to be blurred, and that's the problem.

Maybe, but the act of laying hands on someone....

is not to pray TO that person.
Now the grandstanding and publicizing of the event is another story. But if we're going to throw politicians out of office for grandstanding, there are going to be a LOT of open positions.

McMaster and Trump are about as Christian as me, yet they wouldn't miss that photo op to make themselves feel worshipped.

But a photo op is different than wanting to be worshipped
They will all go for the photo op, because duh
The “these people worship me” part is a little projection

I do not speak for the sincerity of the individuals doing it in any case.
