first place in the ACC in January, would you have believed me?
I know it’s still early with a lot of games left to play, but we are in a great position.
We have a lot of nice pieces on our team. We have good leadership on the court. And we have great team chemistry.
I’m sure someone will respond with how horrible losing to SC or Loyola was. Someone else will say that they expect to be let down. Whatever.
This team is different. They are fun. They are playing good basketball.

Everyone complains about the bad losses. They are bad. Would any trade it for wins and have losses at GT and VT? Not now. Is Dukes losses to Wake and State bad?

But what a lot of people here don’t understand is that bad losses aren’t unique to Clemson. Virtually every college basketball team this year will have a bad loss. That’s the nature of college basketball.
I will say that we’ve been pretty consistent this year. Loyola, our ugliest loss this year, was not even close. But our other losses were buzzer beaters or close to it. And we’ve won a lot of games by multiple possessions.
Tonight was by far our closest ACC game. Including tonight’s three point win, we are still winning our ACC games by 12.5 points. That’s outstanding.

That made NCAA tourney run a while back? But honestly, those teams are tricky because they mainly focus on basketball since allot of them don’t have football, or good football at least. Wichita state, Winthrop, wofford, etc.

got back. He got back game 2, which I don't think anyone expected. It allowed them to work him in and get everyone playing with him far earlier than anticipated, which was important, as he hadn't practiced since last season. He's still not 100%, but he's getting closer.
Tyson has been the story of the season. He had like 2-3 career double/doubles coming into the year, now he's Dale Davis, lol. He's honestly in the running for POY right now in the league

True re: Hunter Tyson. His improvement as a player and as a floor leader the past few years has been astounding. When he arrived at Clemson, I would never have guessed that he would become the aggressive leader he is this year. Fine rebounder and turned into an excellent scorer with a "shooters" confidence now, that he never possessed before. You can tell he adds to the chemistry on the floor and that the younger players listen to him. We could use more just like him in the pipeline for the coming years.

Hey Judge I actually watched the game tonight and really enjoyed it. The team looks athletic and can make shots. Not a big fan of basketball but I think I will be keeping up with tiger basketball a little more than I have in the past.

Nothing would be greater than to see our fans roused to action, packing LJ to the rafters, loud and boisterous and turning our arena into Death Colisseum! That, plus heavy seas of Clemson orange in opponents' arenas would add to the excitement.

Kenpom has Pitt at 63 I think. Right now we have moved up to 55.
This team is playing well. Offense is solid and defense is excellent. That is at least 2 straight teams that only managed to shoot in the low 30% range. Hold a team there and the chance of a win is pretty high.
Looking at the schedule, there will be a lot of opportunities for wins if they continue to play at this level. They will probably lose a couple they should win, but they could just as easily win a couple you would not think they would win, so it will even out. They have put themselves in a very solid position half way through.

the team still has a lot they can clean-up to improve. Eliminating the long scoring droughts (two 9-0 runs by VT last night) and not putting teams away in particular which has been a problem throughout Brownell's career at Clemson.

No I wouldn't have. I'm kind of curious if you thought that we would be. I know that you are extremely optimistic when it comes to the basketball team, but I would assume that they are exceeding your expectations.

Really good game last night. Was a little concerned at first with Pedulla knocking down 3s but Beadle came in and did a great job of shutting him down except the one at the end of the game when Beadle fell down.
The other huge thing this team is doing well that we have not always done well is hitting free throws. The announcer said we are shooting better than 90% from the line AS A TEAM in conference play so far. That is how you win games. Kind of like being able to run the ball when you have a lead in football. A lot of times in the past we were our own worst enemy at the free throw line. Free throws should be pretty much automatic and I’m really glad to see this team making it happen.

Thrilled to see them taking advantage of their opportunity this year. Also happy to see Brownell notch a one-possession game win last night, on the road to boot. If he can crack that nut this year, then as I've stated all along, we can be dangerous.

Losing to Loyola and SC was horrible
Seriously, proud of the way they are playing. Saturday at Pitt will be big and I hope they play their best game. I wish I didn't live so far away as I would love to see the Louisville and Duke games at Littlejohn next week.
