I rarely post a comment on here….

But as someone who has followed Clemson Football for several decades, I find some of the venomous comments(too many by the way) to be just short of embarrassing.
We can all agree that the defense is elite. That’s 50% of the battle. The other 50% has work to do.
Yes the O line has to improve and yes it has been a sore spot for a while now but do you think we were playing Eastern Illinois last night as our first game of the season? We had the hardest opening game of anyone in the country by a long shot, playing on a neutral field, and as bad as the offense played, we lost 10-3. There is a huge difference between starting your season playing an FCS team or playing one of the top tier teams year in and year out.
DJ had a huge amount of press before this game and with that comes the kind of pressure you and I will probably never experience in our life, especially right out of the gate. Add to that the fact that the Georgia D has always been top shelf and has made many offenses look pedestrian over the years.
The play calling was not great overall and DJ looked a bit unsure of himself on the first reads but from mid third quarter, he seemed to play way better and we had an opportunity to tie the game late.
Do you think playing against that kind of elite competition the FIRST game of the season is going to hurt us or help us? I’ll go with the latter.
Fan bases have the right to criticize but social media has turned some on this board into keyboard typing whiners. It’s as if some are just waiting for things to go south in any given game so they can spout their venom.
If we had played Georgia the 3rd game of the season and had a chance to iron out some of the issues, would it have been better? Probably. If this game had been played at Clemson, would the end result have been different? My guess is yes. And if it had been played at Georgia, it might have been worse but that’s home field advantage.
If wanting to fire the OC is your MO then do me a favor. Go pull for a different team.

I totally agree with everything you said, but there is one thing I disagree with you on:
The venomous comments from supposed Clemson fans. If they are truly fans, then they should be embarrassed beyond belief. These are still kids for gosh sakes!!! I'm embarrassed for them.
If some of our fan base has become this spoiled and stupid, it is up to the true fans to police our own.
I will be watching and condemning any such language going forward from this day.
and thank you for echoing my sentiment at the end: Go pull for a different team if you don't like it.

I agree there is some ugly talk… My dad played for Clemson , I’ve bee a fan for all my 71 years… But I personally see alot of excuses being made about an offense that from top to bottom has struggled against top tier opponents. Our offensive line has been questionable for several years and with the huge salaries going to our coaches it’s time to take a hard look at who and why. My dad loved Clemson but he never made excuses for poor planning and poor execution… I think a real family faces it’s problems it doesn’t excuse them.

i think most comments are to a pattern of offensive incompetence in big games with last nights game simply being ONE example

You have made Great Points...but my biggest issue is the lack of passion that our offence has played with in the last two games , going back to last year... It's true you need to keep your cool ,but there's got to be some drive in us to make the block, catch the pass, and run the ball. Our leadership was nonexistent last night. Everyone was waiting on someone else to make a play... WERE IS THE DESIRE TO WIN!! ON THE OFFENSIVE side of the ball?? Maybe we are to worried about our next commercial add ???
