Omg so idiotic. Are these morons Republicans? Yeah that’s the way to cut down on abortions. Take away contraception and it will get a whole lot worse. All these men making decisions for women. Perfect! ????

I probably know more ultra-conservative religious

people than anyone else here, and I've never heard anyone say that they were against contraception. I expect any efforts such as these to fail, due to lack of majority support.

I am. Less net pissed off Americans.

Whatever your position is on abortion (and it could be literally 1,000 other "issues"), leaving the choice and authority to states to decide decreases the NET level of discontent. That decreases things like Donald Trump (or Joe Biden) becoming President and January 6th happening.

So you have Mississippi, where 70% of people are pissed off because Washington/FedCo says they have to allow abortions. And you have California with 70% of people content that Washington forces them to allow abortions. Make it a state issue and Mississippi outlaws it, and suddenly 70% of people are happy in Mississippi and 30% are unhappy. Net 40% MORE HAPPY PEOPLE in Mississippi, overall.

Now California passes a law protecting it. The 70% of people in California who were happy, ARE STILL HAPPY, and the 30% who were not happy, are still unhappy. No net change. But when you extrapolate this out across the country, you end up with a MORE CONTENT country.

January 6th has consequences. We do not survive as a top-down democracy. In a nation as diverse as ours, they have a 100% track record of failing. Yes, democracies have flaws. That's why we are/were intended to be a republic. Democratic in the creating and execution of laws, but a republic in structure.

Very well stated. Folks in some states are very satisfied with liberal drug laws and the ability to engage a physician to help off you.

Personally, I'm not much for either in SC, but could care less what goes on elsewhere. Happy there, happy here.

This is a massive pivot by the court

But it's one sorely needed. Just like with the pandemic, we didn't have any major national regulations dictated to people, beyond international borders, which is in the prevue of the federal government. Biden tried vaccine mandates and they were struck down, and rightly so. They can require them for the military, and government workers, but not impose them on private companies. Largely, states were given freedom to enact, or NOT enact mask mandates, close schools, etc. And even within states, the best practice is to defer to local counties, towns, and school districts. That is what governor McMaster originally did, until he pivoted.

Let San Francisco be San Francisco, let California and Portland, Oregon be who they are. Let Spartanburg, South Carolina be who they are, and Mt. Pleasant, SC be who they are. Legalize weed, outlaw weed, legalize abortion, make abortion illegal, allow coal power plants, don't allow coal power plants. All I care about is what I need to care about and all we should NEED to care about, is our families, neighbors, communities, and state (in that order). Washington, DC SHOULD be at the bottom of that list.

Sadly, it's at the top of the list for many misinformed people.

This is all the way out in Idaho. It's probably not real and if it is, won't affect us.

As Idahoans plan for a future without abortion rights, a leading Republican in the Idaho House would support holding hearings on legislation banning abortion pills and morning-after pills.
