"You can really get to know each other on every level without the physical part of it"
They knew each other for about 5 months. Can you really "know each other on every level" in 5 months? I doubt it.
These horn dogs got married for purely physical reasons and this amuses me, because irony.

They knew each other for 5 months and think they know every level of one another. That's a pretty bold statement to make and to me paints a pretty clear picture of why they decided to get married.

Albeit, they had been dating for about five years so round of applause to them on their behalf for being strong Christians in that regard.
But these idiots this story is about strictly got married so they could #### each others brains out and it be "holy". No way in hell do you find out everything about a person in 5 months, especially if you havent even kissed one another. People that get married like this are hypocrites.

"Speaking of the big moment ahead of the wedding, Jill told People: 'I think it is safer and makes it more special to wait to kiss until your wedding day."
The most special thing I have ever done with a girl is paint her face with mother natures finest white paint. These people know nothing about "special" after only dating for five months.

Cam said just the other day that no Baptist has ever judged somebody else. EVER. I can't find it right now, but I am pretty sure that is a direct quote.

even the duggar family?
I don't judge this couple other than to say they are rushing in to marriage for purely physical reasons. I wish them well, but I can't not find their actions ironic and hilarious when they would probably sit and judge the actions of others for expressing very similar logic (a rush to be physical in a relationship).

I don't see how they are being so in this case, as presented in this article. The fact that you are saying "they would probably sit and judge" shows that you must agree that this article doesn't present any hypocrisy on their part.

Here's my math:
Jun 23, 2014, 4:09 PM
|

They only know each other for 5 months. (only met in November)
I find this very hard to believe that they know "all the levels" of one another even if they were physical (kissing/holding hands/probably dancing) which they weren't.
They are getting married after about 6 months. Why the rush? Why not wait a year or longer? Has to be a catalyst for the decision.
Rush is because they are lusting, but I'm open to other suggestions.
Summary: By their actions they view physical contact as sacred and only until marriage can you have physical contact. That's their judgment on physical contact. Not a far leap to then assume they view other relationships as less sacred because they are physical before marriage. So the only difference between them and other "less sacred couples" is a rush to get married so that the physical contact is "holy." They are rushing into a decision that they themselves view as something you shouldn't rush.

I think there is a difference between choosing

to wait until married to kiss, and saying "only until marriage can you have physical contact". I do not see anywhere where they said it would be sin, or wrong, to kiss before they were married. It's a choice they made.

why did they make the choice?
Jun 23, 2014, 5:20 PM

The actions themselves speak for their beliefs (they were only "allowed" to hug when saying hello and goodbye, didn't hold hands until engagement, and didn't kiss until marriage). You don't commit to an action as drastic as this unless you have a strong belief behind it.
I'm not saying they aren't allowed to have that belief or the choice, but I am saying I find it funny that they made the choice based on the same reasoning others do but don't get married. Marriage, in this case, being for more physical than metaphysical reasons.
Time plays a big role in this. Let's say they waited for a couple of years, sticking to the no physical contact rule, then I wouldn't find it funny. I just don't think knowing someone for 5 months means you "know them on all levels." It's hard to know a dog after 5 months with it, let alone a person.

I think you may be misunderstanding that...

Paul faced a question about young men who weren't sure if it were better to get married, or to stay single and devote themselves solely to the ministry. Paul said it was good to stay single if you can (Paul was single), but if they "cannot contain," then they should marry. It would relieve them of the burden of lust. Similarly, if you have found your wife, it is better to marry her than to wait, if you think that "containing" would be difficult. Surely one should not get married unless they know for certain it is God's will.

Marriage as a relief from the burden of lust sounds romantic

fixed it.
(I understood the point being made, but I think of marriage as more than simply a relief from lust. How does one know God's will? Let alone with any sort of certainty?)
