ESPiN refers to Clemson as being SECish. I know the crowd, passion and stadium size is comparable to any of the sec schools but there are many important differences.
We don't pay players, hand out signing bonuses or spend Saturday mornings getting them out of jail. Our coach is one of the pillars of our integrity. He is not a millstone destined to drag our University into the mire.
For now I'll be pacified that they are talking about stadium, quality of players and the noise we generate come gameday.

You left out ACADEMICS - very important IMO. I love our sports programs, but I'm not willing to ignore our high academic standards just to be "SEC-ish".

A DV crowd is not SECish - it's all-Clemson - that's what makes DV the place it is!
We don't need to be compared to anybody.

It's meant to flatter and in some ways it does. The similarities between Clemson and the average SEC team are limited, very limited.

Okay. I am one of the few "Coots" that would like to see you in the SEC. Having a rival with a stong program as an OCC game means one more tough outing for us. Having the Car/Clem game as a conference game and scheduling a mid level opponent (NC, GT, Etc.) as an OOC foe would help us. An SEC schedule would stop Clemson from suffering from the ACC perception and possibly make our year end meeting of national interest (not that it isn't some years now.)
There are a lot of reasons that both schools may not like the seanerio. Our SEC affiliation helps recruiting against you (maybe)and the odds of Clemson winning the ACC vs the SEC and a subsequest BCS bown (or top four rating in the new system) are vastly imporved. Surely you won't tell me that Clemson would be favored to win the SEC

I get so tired of seeing posts about crap like this. We don't do this to our players, our players don't go to jail, our players are all Engineering majors who had perfect scores on the SAT. Just last week somebody was posting about how a Clemson player would never do this or never have done that (can't remember what they were talking about), the next day what happens? Former Tiger Jamie Harper arrested.

SEC is an adjective created by ESPN to describe something really awesome.
Most commonly used in phrases like "SEC Speed" "SEC Atmosphere" "SEC linebackers".......etc.
It'd be like going up to a really hot chick and telling her she has SEC #####.

who have a passion for their school and the game. That is Clemson in a nutshell. We are Southern, we are proud of our roots, we love our school, and we love Clemson football. There are other schools like that around us in the South.
