sliding on the hill (on cardboard) throughout the game. Most of us at the time never imagined there'd be seats on the hill. By the time I left in '69, there was quite a large crowd on the hill during games. Notice how most of the crowd is dressed....Games in those days were "social" events with the stadium taking on a "preppy" look. The first game my parents attended in '65, my Mother showed up in dress, purse, hat, white gloves and heels. My Dad had on a white shirt, tie, coat and hat. Even funnier, most of the guys I knew and I would somehow scrape up corsages for our dates, most of whom spent a great deal of time prior to the games "prepping." The professors and others were kind enough to open their homes for our dates, as most of us couldn't afford hotels, etc. Mine usually stayed in the home of a Dr. Whitney and his wife, whose sons were close friends and whom many of you older grads may remember. Each home weekend was, also, a big dance weekend put on by the CDA of which Jim Barker was an officer!
