It seems this team gives up when they screw up their fielding.

The sad truth is that we only have three or four good hitters on the team and Davis Sharpe is clearly our best pitcher and he hasn’t been able to pitch in weeks. I am afraid to say it but my expectations for this team were too high and I have a feeling most of our fans felt the same as me. BTW, do we know the extent of D. Sharpe’s injury? Davis is one of the better hitters on the team but did not get it going before the injury and now he isn’t getting any at bats.

Sharpe is at best a Sunday starter for a good team. If he is the best pitcher for a baseball program like Clemson then that tells you how bad Monte had missed on talent.

quickly remember ONE time this year when we came back from more than a run down and won.
In the vernacular, this team doesn't seem to have much of an ability to put up "crooked numbers" in an inning at any time.
That, combined with less than average pitching, will get you exactly what we are seeing.
And, to refute another post, we are NOT elite in baseball any more, and HAVE NOT BEEN, since several years BEFORE the end of Jack Leggett's tenure. Sure, we were still mostly making regionals, but MANY slightly above average teams make regionals every year. WINNING them, and then winning Super Regionals, stopped for us a long time ago.
We have far too much of a "Nebraska" attitude about baseball. Nebraska still thinks they are a blueblood in football, when in reality, they are no better than a Kentucky or NC State type program at this point.
I don't claim by any stretch to be a baseball expert. But, you don't have to be one to see that things are trending in the wrong direction. If Monte Lee is the right man for the job, he will need to make some changes, either in his coaching style, his assistant coaches, or recruiting tactics. I am not ready to give up on him as Head Coach.
Let's not forget that Dabo Swinney could have EASILY been fired after the 2010 season. In fact, many on here were clamoring for exactly that. Now, I am not trying to see that Monte Lee will go on to have Dabo type success in the future. What I AM saying is that sometimes for changes to be made, things have to get worse before they get better. Dabo finally had to face reality, and realize he had to make some hard coaching staff decisions.
There is a reason the Coots were seriously wringing their hands when we hired Monte Lee. He was a good coach, and they wanted him, badly. But, he is quickly running out of time to show that he still is a good coach, here.

If Monte cannot put his ego aside, hire a qualified hitting coach, possibly another pitching coach, and also take a good look at how he’s been making game time decisions, he should not be a head coach.

Monte may be a good coach, just not a good head coach. That was stupidity on anyone that wanted Dabo fired after 2 years, or 2 recruiting cycles when it was clear he was bringing in more talent.
Can't even compare the two. Bottom line, Monte isn't bringing in elite talent, nor is he developing good talent into becoming elite talent.
Holbrook is a good coach. Coots fired him because he couldn't recruit.
