“And I do deserve a lot of credit for that a lot because it's been a 14-year journey, and had we had a different coach or a newer young coach at the time, it wouldn't have happened. There'd been no chance. So that's obviously been a spot of mind, a little bit of a sore spot at times because I think that that's gone not as noticed as I would like.“

I was glad to hear that we have good facilities and fan support. Those are huge. But no mention of our pep band. That concerns me.

He is the best basketball coach Clemson has ever had. It is way past time for the Lunatic Fringe to recognize his success and the hard work he has put in.

Even if manner of comment comes across as bragging, he does have a point.
Also like the point that he mentiones only one of 24 programs to go to at least an Elite 8 and Sweet Sixteen in the last 7 years.
Also, Brad mentions he needs more success in the ACCT, and more consistent NCAATs apperances.
So give him credit for mentioning that too...

I guess that he is in favor of patting himself on the back every chance he gets. I never heard him have an appreciative word about the millions he's put in his bank account over the past 14 years that comes out of the athletic funds. IMO, he is paid enough to have at least a few fundraisers every month, or at least once a week!!!

Here’s the facts. Before CBB there was no effort to cultivate a basketball donors group. You read that right, none, zero. So yeah he built that from the ground up brick by brick. He deserves a $hit ton of credit.

The reverse is also true

without the portal we would not have improved as much as we did talent wise. This year we lost Clark, Beadle, and Godfrey. Clark may or may not get his 6th year, if he does that hurts depth. Godfrey I don't understand why he left, in my mind it wasn't for playing time but some other reason. I believe Beadle wants more playing time which I doubt he was going to see at Clemson. Zachery should be an upgrade over Beadle.
Replacing Hall's talent won't happen except by committee. "The Chef" must continue to improve as must Wiggins. Hopefully we will get another front line player that can make a big contribution. Because of the smaller number of players on the roster, use of the portal can have a much bigger impact in basketball than football.

CBB struggles with recruiting the right talent as well as with retaining the talent he has, therefore he has to go to the portal and in some cases he gets better talent than what he was able to identify and get coming from HS.

It is college basketball 2024. Duke lost seven players. Seven. Arkansas lost all but one player. There is no way to be successful in college basketball without using the portal. RJ left because of tampering and cash.

Also encouraged of Coach saying Wiggins should be averaging like 12 to 14 points a game next season. If he does that with Chase coming back and with Shef,JZ, Vik, Jake and the rest this team will be a top 15 type team.

Cicada Brood XIX makes a big noise every 13 years - let's see if Brad has actually turned a corner or if this past season's big finish was just a one-off due to several top recruits actually sticking around for a change and going the distance for us.

It is hard to win in any sport because every school uses the Portal, it may be harder in basketball than other sports. Each sport has its challenges and the main one in basketball is having players that can shoot the ball. Will be as good as last year, no way to know until we know how good the freshmen will be.

They have benefited our program greatly. It’s too bad he has to overcome the perception that Clemson is against those things because of some of Dabo’s comments.
Brad is also echoing what I’ve said for years about having to deal with the assumption that we are a football school that doesn’t care about basketball. Thanks to his fundraising, we now have facilities that don’t hold us back. That makes a difference when we can get recruits on campus for a visit.
Way to go, Brad! Keep overachieving!
