want to destroy other conferences!
I seldom listen to the radio or wander away from Tnet for my news because everyone has an agenda. In Tnet's case I agree with its agenda, Clemson and only things that concern Clemson.
Some Sat talking voice interviewed a lady who said that each of the power 5 conference had a 'weighted,' vote in NCAA concerns. I've no doubt the B1G and SEC want to see other conference destroyed to increase their voting power in the league.
I'm not sure if the SEC is concerned about the B1G getting a foothold in the southeast. I do know that of the last dozen which defected from the Big 12 and Pac were certainly not comparable to Clemson or FSU. The SOS alone was a good reason to recruit both for as goes conference SOS so goes playoff seeds.

ACC destroyed the Big East.
SEC hurt the Big 12 twice.
B1G kinda hurt the ACC, though I’ve never missed Maryland.
Pac hurt the Big 12.
B1G joined the “alliance”, lied, then destroyed the Pac 12, along with help from the Big 12.
No conference is innocent. Not going to blame anyone at this point for trying to make sure they are one of the last standing when the music stops.

Of course that's what I meant. 'Doggy dog,' is an excerpt from a relatively recent post (5-7 years ago) of a Norm Crosby act where he twisted words together to entertain his audience. Norm was the master of such laughable nonsense.

aggressive, mostly in direct competition with the SEC.
Repeating my views, I can not imagine why on God's earth the SEC would sit idly, allowing the B1G any more of a foothold into southern recruiting by adding FSU, Clemson, possibly UNC or others. The most proactive move would be to strike quickly, expanding by adding the southern programs into the SEC. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the B1G would use their southern members as potent catalysts in the Deep South for B1G recruiting...something the SEC powers-that-be better recognize in a hurry.

What do you think the SEC should do, given the FSU and Clemson's contractual obligations?

I imagine the SEC's offers have been extended.

I doubt the SEC is concerned with the B1G 'coming down here and taking recruits.' If conference brand is as important as it seems, the SEC has a lock on it. I think the SEC has made the offers to strengthen its SOS and secure more playoff seeds. That converts into dollars.
Unfortunately for the SEC and any prospective ACC teams, ESPiN has all locked up with its SEC and ACC contracts and the company doesn't want things to change.

That's one underlying problem with your premise. You are assuming the SEC wants to expand, and you assume they want Clemson and Florida St. Neither of those is necessarily true. You can't look at this with orange colored glasses.

Perhaps not but both SEC and B!G want the ACC to crumble.

Clemson adds a great deal to a conference SOS which also brings the eyes of those who love and hate Clemson. Yes, we've been on top long enough for jealousy to set in.
I would say that if there is one reason the SEC wants Clemson, that is it. We are one of the few teams in the nation which can actually raise the entire SEC's SOS and add value to the SEC's TV package. FSU? Who knows if they've 'turned it around or not?'

It's possible that the SEC has made contact but until Clemson can work out an exit, everything is a no-go.

This is about pure economics. The B1G is certainly interested in an expanded TV market but getting a bigger piece of the playoff pie has its value too.
I believe both the SEC and B1G have offered to place several ACC teams. I think that offer has been on the table for a long while. Clearly ESPiN is playing cat and mouse, dreading to see the ACC fall and hoping that when it does Clemson and some of the other ACC teams will remain under ESPiN's banner.
I don't believe the SEC and B1G conferences are anxious but the TV networks are biting their nails, licking their chops in their projections of potential profits and losses.
I am vehemently opposed to Clemson joining a yankee conference. I still haven't gotten over the war.

What opinions I've formed about the matter are founded upon what I read here. Having already known that Disney is hurting, and has been for a little while now, I can't help but wondering if the SEC isn't going to be forced to renegotiate its contract. It makes sense that ESPN can't offer two or three more teams worth of SEC contracts without Disney's okay. It also makes sense Dusney would not approve due to the strains it is trying to manage.

Imo, the SEC is in the catbird seat on contract negotiations

The SEC has other bidders. ESPiN has no prospects willing to fill the SEC's slot. The collusion between the networks which bought B1G rights would be delighted to take ESPiN's pet conference. If someone suggested that Fox, NBC and the others involved in B1G's TV rights wanted to squeeze ESPiN out of the picture, I could believe it.
I don't think most fans consider just how vicious these players are.

Can't pay. See MLB for the fragility of expensive 'contracts'. My take is Disney needs addition by subtraction. They need to stick to their core...entertainment. ESPN needs to drop the capital E and focus on Sports...period. All that other nonsense is expensive...polarizing...and compromising their success. If it's not a live event, I don't watch ESPN at all. It's the Wal-Mart of television viewing.

Events are real. All is conjecture at this point...and what isn't seen and/or heard carries much more weight. Plus, my dear genius, it was an opinion. However, you're free to indulge in your linear thought process...it's your right.

If ESPN was looking to cut cost, it would make more sense to just dump the ACC and keep the SEC.
