Yea, not gonna shoot a 3.5 YO on opening morning. Might shoot one like that on Tuesday or Wednesday depending how many deer the group has the split up by then.
But I’ve instructed son of to shoot anything legal he wants which is 4 or more points on one side.

that's the only animal I hunt because they eat siding of my house and are general pests. I try to get one every Saturday/Sunday morning with the hi-power pellet rifle. I have a walnut tree off my back porch and walnuts must be squirrel crack.
Could have tackled a deer hanging out by my side door this AM when I walked outside. So close he startled me more than I startled him. Those things don't fear anything any more. Other than them stealing the pears and apples from my donkeys they are basically harmless, so I leave them be.

(and I have used this) but that's boring and no fun.
Like to keep my marksman skills sharp. Poppin tree rats from 30-50 yards away is a pretty good challenge.
