unbridled joy that our ladies exhibit while playing their sport of softball. Every play is greeted with smiles, laughs, hugs, and other joyful expressions. It gets to be contagious, and I believe it is a key reason they are playing at just an insanely great level right now.
SALUTE!
ps, Go ahead and order Valerie Cagle's statue, and retire her jersey immediately after her last game at Clemson. She is that good. But, she is not alone. Millie Thompson is the other clear leader of the team. She brings the fire, Val brings the ice. Fire and Ice is a deadly combination.

Um, accepted norms change over time. Calling a random female a lady may be a term of respect. Calling a female D-1 scholarship athlete a lady is not a sign of respect. They have worked hard on their craft and simply wanted to be treated and called the same as any other athlete. To single them out with a separate term than you would use for a baseball or football players diminishes their efforts. Since we have already noted you do not call a baseball player gentlemen or lord (equivalent terms to lady) then the slight is obvious.

Have you asked our ladies how they feel about it?

I’ve seen plenty of posts referring to our male athletes as men, boys, and guys. I would think relegating our female athletes to a generic term of player would be more of a slight. They can’t be respected as both females and athletes?

Lmfao #### what you think is accepted, the sheer arrogance of people these days that think they have the right ti correct people on what is accepted is wild. Your fragility to words isn’t other people’s issue the man didn’t use it in any derogatory way to begin with. Maybe you should seek counseling if words actually bother you.

Millie is hilarious. Her purple and orange horned hat with balloons tied to each horn was funny. She is definitely a lively spirit on the team. But one of the things you mentioned about smiles and having fun, but look at best player on the team at the end half innings, the best player Cagle is the first person at the dugout entrance high-fiving or glove patting every player coming off the field. She greets them with a smile and vote of confidence! She could be in the dugout and patting herself on the back and waiting for others to do the same but she is opposite and a happy humble leader.
They are fun to watch!

We should never take Valerie for granted. After watching her story told on Clemson+ about the shoulder pain she played through last season, I can’t have any higher respect for such a humble and dedicated person.

this injury was able to be kept under wraps, for nearly a WHOLE SEASON. I did think that Val looked tired at times last year. Now, it is easy to understand why. I know all too well, you can't rest when you are in pain. If she didn't already have my ultimate respect before, she sure does now. There can be no better illustration of a "gamer" than playing in constant pain, and continuing to tough it out for a whole season.
