Just one?

You need at least one for each season. Unless you're the kind of guy that would carry nickel plated after Labor Day. I'd suggest something for for formal occasions as well. No way I'd want to be caught at a wedding or debutante ball without something formal...maybe a .44 wheel gun in a crisp leather shoulder holster.

Opinions are like you-know-whats, but I would recommend a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9m. I suppose that a .40 would be just as good. I find that it fits my hand well, as the clip has a built in extension so that even my pinkie finger is around the grip. It has a little bit of weight to it, which helps, and for a 2" bbl, it's quite accurate at <25-feet ... or at least as accurate as my advanced age will permit. Good luck!

I'll give some good advice

Decide revolver or pistol....
If revolver, get some sort of 38spl revolver. Nearly any brand would be fine
If pistol, go with 9mm... I went with a .40 for whatever reason, but the ammo is more expensive and the round is very "snappy". 9mm would let you shoot way more often due to the cheaper ammo. The Ruger LC9 is VERY cheap and a pretty solid choice. Tons of other choices out there, but the Ruger is pretty universally recommended.

I love my Sig 238 and 938

basically the same gun, one is a 380 and the other a 9mm.
They are small enough to conceal in your front pocket with a pocket holster - I am not good on a leg or belt type holster.
I would recommend shooting different guns at a range that allows you to rent them before you buy one.

I know the 9mm has more punch than the 380 but I

am more accurate and faster on target with the 380, probably due to less recoil.
Love both guns though.

you. I like a revolver. Pull the trigger and it shoots.
practice practice practice.
I used to carry in the wasteband, but now I'm getting fat and it is uncomfortable. Pocket carry for me in summer and in winter shoulder holster.

I found CZ's are addictive as hell

but I don't like the Rami for carry (just a little to thick for me) and the Dan Wesson ECO is nice, but still a little bigger than my Sig's. I also have the CZ 75 Compact that is bigger than the Rami.
So, GDI, I just looked and they have a new Dan Wesson Compact, I wish I had not seen that. Might have to call my guy in Pickens.

It's a perfect addition if you already have an AK variant, but I went with the Mossberg MVP bolt in .223/5.56 instead. Accepts AR mags, which is a huge bonus. It's a tack driver, and I'm a Mossberg guy anyway, so it just made the most sense for me.
