medical, free transportation, free physical training, free coaching, and free tutoring was never considered "pay".
The good thing about the above-mentioned items is that it was equal. The next step in the "pay" system is squabbling over who makes what. Expect to see some kids laying down at times because they feel like they should earn more that Player X on his team.

It was when Clemson and other schools weren’t making as much money but billions of dollars are on the table now and you expect everyone else to get rich but still give players nothing extra? Weird

I don’t necessarily have a problem with the pay. To me it’s the amount of money we are talking about giving these kids. Key word - kids. I’d feel better if the money were put in trusts that they could access after they graduate and are more mature. I think a lot of them are going to blow this money and leave them in a worse situation - no education (since that doesn’t seem to matter anymore) and no money…

They have tte legal right to make their own financial decisions. Trying to tell other people what to do with their money screams "control freak".

I have no problem with players getting paid. My point is, they have ALWAYS been paid.
Name a company that gives its employees a salary, PLUS a free place to stay, free meals 3x7, free medical, free vacations, and pays off their student loans?

Most players seem to not care about education. Instead, pay them, bu charge them for housing, meals, medical, use of school property to make a living: weight rooms, practice facilities, use of stadium, meals. Those things are not free. Charge the players. Be like the rest of us, have enough money left after bills and taxes to maybe buy a six pack for Saturday.

Not those exact things but companies increase salaries if over an extended period of time they make substantially more money. Thats why they increase what they get and it’s gotten to the point where they can’t just offer more food or clothes

Packages. We have a million things left to iron out related to the payments, but I’m sure all of the benefits associated with your position on the squad will be included in the calculations for how much you’ll receive in cash compensation.

None of what you described is discretionary. It can't be spent. Athletes couldn't work at a car wash or McDonald's.
Not a dime if that was "pay".
And ..it wasn't anything close to fair market value, especially for football players.
