Do you think Dabo recommended some player to hit the portal?

Let's face it, not every recruit works out. I wonder how many players that went into the portal were due to sitting down with them and telling them to cold hard facts that they aren't going to see much playing time and should consider using the portal. I'm sure Dabo would try and help these players a landing spot.

Dabo has always said if a player gets their Clemson degree, that is what they owe him. Many of the players in the portal have been here long enough to do that.
He may have told Fred Davis that the portal is his best bet, Fred has been in the Love Shack No one else has been and it be made public.

And Fred probably wants to put Clemson behind him with the accident. I know I'd feel bad.
I'm sure Dabo talked to all of them. Maybe even contacting a coach. Lavonta was solid but old school. Sounds like swint was just in-between positions.... perhaps not good enough for linebackers and not good enough for DE. Otherwise, that's a headscratcher because both groups are in need.

If Dabo wanted challenging kids to hit the portal he could have simply dismissed Davis from the team. No one would have batted an eye. Dabo wants kids like Davis because Dabo thinks he can help them. Nothing about Dabo’s style would make me think he’d want a kid like that going elsewhere.
Now, I can see him telling some players who aren’t looking like they’ll be 1st or 2nd string any time soon that that is the case, especially if they tell him that playing time is their top priority. But that’s not the same as offloading a problem player.

Yes, 100% he did. Because I believe he cares enough to be honest with them.
Especially if the player has had grumblings of dissatisfaction. I.E. feeling like they should be playing more. But, not really being vocal perse about it directly.
Some kids come in and keep getting better as football players and some arrived on campus as good as they will ever be. The ones who genuinely love the grind, smell, taste, hurt, pain, sweat, lifting, running, and physical nature of football are the ones who you will see become stars and likely move on to the next level.
Some of these kids don't love ball! They love what ball can get them.

My guess would be that Dabo has honest conversations with players about where they stand on the team and how likely they are to achieve their goals here. If that leads to a discussion about whether he thinks a player would be more likely to achieve his goals by transferring then I would expect that discussion occurs.
And before y’all start, yes - I think he had those honest conversations with both Cade and DJ.

outstanding, the coaches had to be expecting some transfers.
Wonder which potential early NFL entrants are considering sticking around and using a scholarship that would be needed by a commitment or other current player?

Yes for sure. If it is fairly certain you will not see the field I would think the coaches would most definitely advise them on finding the right situation.
