New look offense this week?
Nov 6, 2022, 11:20 AM

With the ACC atlantic clinched, do we try to run tempo offense for an entire against Louisville just to see if we can get going. The tempo is used by lots of teams with less talent to gain an advantage. I would sure give it a try. I mean our defense is on the field a lot anyway so for them it wouldn't even matter.

I hope they try something. I would commit to Cade the rest of the year.

I would hope they look at the tape of the whole season... see what this group is good at, see what it isnt good at... and trim the playbook accordingly. Several times in the season, it has felt like a square peg/round hole issue.

What part is going to be left if they trim it?? The wildest part about it is DJ plays great in up tempo and I don’t understand why we don’t run it all game like we use to. When DJ doesn’t have time to think he slings it, when he thinks he’s like a deer in the headlights. But even last year anytime he’s in the two minute offense he looks great.

I don’t recall ever hearing an explanation for why we abandoned up tempo

on offense.
That was a big key to our success in the past. That, and lots of innovative plays with well-coached players to execute those plays.

Yeah we just kind of slowly went away from it. Idk, I remember Deshaun and even Trevor running it a good bit. The change has been recent

I don’t think it has been explained Judge. Apparently the Tigers don’t have the personnel to play that kind of football.
Missed assignments are commonplace with this team. They just aren’t talented enough to play at a fast pace.

Me either we started going away from it a little more after Trevor’s freshman year and are now at the point of molasses. We don’t run any simple plays everything is so up tight they make everything look like rocket science. Only players I see trying to make things happen are Ship, AW, and Mafah that’s about it.

Agree. Square peg in a round hole. If going to Play DJ at least put him in a position he can operate. Fast Tempo throw the ball quick out of his hands. Don’t Put him in a position to make choices and decisions that require quick processing of information. Not his style. Why was he successful in HS. Lost a lot with losing Scott and Veneables.

We have nothing lose at this point except pride. Our goals now are to beat the coots, win the ACCG, and a bowl which is obtainable regardless what we do the next 2 games. So me thinks that we should try a lot of new things these next 2 weeks. Try out new players. Heck, get Cade an actual entire game in. Run tempo for an entire game instead of tortoise pace offense (when was the last time we did that?). Try out some new blitz packages on defense. Actually use the games as scrimmages and not play to lose or conservative, whatever you want to call it.

It is. But something needs to change for that to happen. The last 2 games are not the recipe for beating Louisville. I'm not saying scrap everything and try a whole new offensive scheme. That is a disaster. Just might be time to change personnel on the field and throw in any new wrinkles we have been holding back on. All of our goals are obtainable if we lose or not the next two weeks. So we shouldn't play scared anymore and actually have some pride wearing that paw.
It's worth noting we have never lost to Louisville and I really don't want this year to be our first loss to them.

SOUNDLY!!!!! We need to make a strong, positive statement this week. We won’t get a pass like uga, al, osu get, so we need to be outstanding on our own.
