I don't know if something similar has been posted

Oct 4, 2021, 12:14 PM

and I apologize in advance if so. I'm sure this will get flamed...

but the DJ in Death Valley at midnight throwing to equipment managers was nothing more than a PR stunt.

Prove me wrong.

I have had that same thought. He gets enough snaps in practice to fix his game. The coaches have bought in and that’s the way it is.

Previously discussed NIL requirement.

He needs the practice, so I'm not sure.

His deep throw is off so bad, I think it surprises the WR when it is in the correct area.

Hasselbeck's grenade comment was sadly hilarious and accurate

There is such a thing as over practicing, plus I have in my life time found that it's not good to out and practice right after a bad outing. And when you do, it doesn't give the mind enough time to flush your mistakes, and you end up doing the same thing over and over without it registering what you're doing is still wrong, and it looks like he has been doing the same thing in practice bc he is bringing his same mistakes into the game week after week. He probably shouldn't practice again until they start getting ready after the Bi week to give his mind time to clear it's self, and it will!!!

I’ve actually thought this all along as well.

I’m pulling for DJ, and hate to take any credit away from him.
But there’s just so much phony stuff going on in the world these days.
I don’t know if DJ thought of it on his own, or if a coach advised it…or maybe his social media-savvy father.
But you know they knew a couple of media members were lingering, someone would get footage, and it would become a feel-good story.

DJU must have needed to work some soreness out of his arm. It doesn't do any good to "practice throws" by lobbing the ball to someone. He needs to "practice throws" at the speed in which a game is going and throw the ball at the velocity that he will have to throw in a real game.

I cant believe from a liability perspective a player would have access to the stadium when not "in use" anyway.

I don't believe this was a stunt. DJ wants to win and wants to be the best he can be. Is a publicity stunt when he is at the practice facility at 6am by himself studying film? No, he is working to get better.

No need to analyze it. Let the young man practice.

Oct 4, 2021, 1:23 PM

Most Clemson fans will agree that DJ can use the work. There might be multiple reasons for him to be on the field throwing after the game was long over, but it could be of benefit. So let him do it.

Personally, I'd rather him be out there working on his pass mechanics than downtown partying after a lackluster homecoming win.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't think the criticism of DJ is fair.

Oct 4, 2021, 1:30 PM

By all accounts, he has been a humble, hard working young man who has maintained a positive attitude and strong work ethic despite the criticism and frustrations this year.

I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt here. I prefer to assume that our student-athletes are putting in hard work because they care about becoming a better player and a better team, and not because they are focused on PR stunts.

Even if DJ was doing it for attention, what would be the harm?

I don't see it as a PR stunt.

Oct 4, 2021, 1:35 PM

If it were, I'd think they could have found a receiver to be working with him.

Nobody has to prove you wrong nor right…your opinion doesn’t matter…and has zero to do with what is the truth…you simply don’t know one way or the other

This is the appropriate response IMO. None of us know why anyone else makes a decision to do something. Lots of people act like and say they “know” but none of us can ever really know what is going through someone else’s mind.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

to me it proved we have a QB willing to get better, but.....

Oct 4, 2021, 1:40 PM

WRs that are NOT.

Don't get me wrong, DJ has been far from perfect, but there were "on the money throws" that were completely BOTCHED by the WRs..........there's blame to go around and it STILL doesn't stop at the QB OR the WRs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Been said already...

Oct 4, 2021, 1:50 PM

Maybe it was and maybe it wasn't. Who can prove it either way?
