My apology to TNetfor earlier post
Feb 10, 2021, 12:15 PM
|
|
It was done in a hurry before leaving home for work and done with great frustration. Some folks didn’t like my criticism of our great governor and I realize some here are blood kin. Others felt I feel entitled for wanting a 2nd Covid shot before other “groups are allowed to start and others feel teachers should be among the 1st to get them. Even others say the age group that heads to work every day should be before us older guys. If I had more time this morning,I would have criticized the governor for leaving teachers out of the 1st group. I do not feel entitlement over anyone- just want rules that are made, however bad, to be enforced in an effective way- not like the Big 10 with OSU. If the state doesn’t know how much vaccine is available- why add thousands more people to the waiting lines. And for those who cited research about the amount of time between shots- I was going by the manufacturer trials that said 3 weeks with 3 days before or after the first is best

They are scheduled for their 2nd jab (as the Brits would say) this coming Friday. According to most everyone I have heard say the 2nd jab causes the dreaded side effects. Guess they will be spending V-Day commiserating with one another.

I am one of the posters who commented for teachers in the replies to your first post.
I in no way took it as though you felt entitled over teachers or any other group for that matter.
As far as you feeling the need to apologize for criticizing the governor, there are no public figures who make it through life without criticism and in some part they should know what they are signing up for when entering the profession that they chose.
You are an asset to the board Clover, and I hope this doesn't discourage you from posting your thoughts because I certainly enjoy getting to read your posts and learn from you and those like you who have a much different and more experienced perspective on life.

Sir, you have nothing to apologize for! You’re entitled to your opinion just like everyone else on TigerNet is. Was your post removed? If so, that’s ridiculous. There are a lot of idiotic posts on here that are allowed to remain??

I don't know if it was because of the 5 letter word I called the governor beginning with"i" and ending in "t" or because of someone's response that maybe got a little more touchy. Was just complaining about the situation in Greenville where the mob of unscheduled people showed up where the vaccine shipment was delayed and even a 94 year old lady who came for a scheduled 2nd shot had to be rescheduled for next week. Bad timing to add a few thousand people to the eligibility group.

One of the problems with our medical care in this country is our federal government stuck their big nose in it. Sometimes I think states can get more done especially if they get their citizens involved. Corporate Greed is also a problem. A big problem for our country is that so much of our medical supplies are made in foreign countries. One of President Trump’s second term policies was to have more medical supplies made in the U.S.A. We can’t let our current government sale us out to China. I now search for items made in America even if it cost a little more. Usually the product is of a higher quality.
Sometimes our politicians act like boneheaded self centered jerks. No Governor is perfect. What makes a politician good or bad is how they respond after they screw up!
However, it never hurts to remind our Politicians who they work for. Sometimes a Senator or Congressman in another states needs to know we can support and help their opponent with financial assistance.
Clover65 IMO you and Joe21 along with many other Veterans have earned the right to criticize our government officials. Everyone has the right of freedom to speak out because of our Constitution and The Bill of Rights. Historical Documents fought for by so many citizens including Clover65, Joe21 and other’s who served in our Military. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. Thank you for our freedoms. This time to persevere these freedoms we may have to fight for the US Constitution and The Bill of Rights on our own soil by a Citizens Army!

The covid.
My dad and step mom are over 68, not in good health but they are stubborn as mules. Refused to take any precautions no matter how hard I tried.
Both got the Corolla (as he calls it) and luckily made it out ok.

I understand your feelings. I got my second shot Monday by standing in line for an hour. I listened to the nurses discussing the fear of running out of vaccine before the day was over. I also saw people who could not stand for an hour, needing chairs and wheelchairs to get their vaccination. Many of the people in line Monday had appointments from opening time until 12:00 which had been cancelled due to lack of supply leaving them standing in line after they opened. They were very afraid they would be turned away but all standing with me were vaccinated.

even though they were there for 2nd shots too. I heard the today was much better, but it can't make up for people like the 94 year old lady who has to come back next week. I will be in line Friday to get my 2nd shot and hope the supply lasts for everyone scheduled.

Frustration is understandable when people and businesses are dying. I would like to add that for those saying the elderly (65+) shouldn’t be the priority, it’s very important to know something. Due to the drug crisis in this country, we have a huge number of children who have no other caregiver than their grandparents. Further, the data is clear who is most likely to die and it’s not the working class ages. I do know from a very inside source that McMaster has genuine compassion and concern for helping South Carolinians through this pandemic. Like us all, he’s not perfect, but he has taken this to heart.

I don't doubt his compassion but

he has talked about following"the science, research" and all the media speak for a year and still insists that he wants schools open without including teachers in this 1st round of vaccinations and adds another large group 65 to 69 while the supply is uncertain before 2nd shots are completed. That is causing problems currently. I happen to be in the over 70 group and work daily in public schools, but would've been happy to wait patiently behind any designated "group" if that had been announced in advance but don't let me take the 1st dose and then change the order of things so the 2nd is not available at the required time.

You're fine. The vaccine distribution is real messed up and SC hasnt exactly had a great track record electing good governors. This isnt neither the first nor the last one. I dont live in the state but he hasnt impressed when I've seen him. And besides you're entitled to you opinion and you've been through combat on behalf of our country. So you're more than good with me.

I didn't see the OP, but the vaccine roll out in SC has been sloppy, difficult to access for many, decentralized and poorly planned. How much of this failure is McMaster's, DHEC and local health care facilities is difficult to say? However, you are absolutely correct to be frustrated and call out the process in SC. D- effort IMO. I told my wife when I heard they were still taking walk ins at PRISMA here in Greenville and then opening up to 65+ that there were going to be some major problems. It was not hard to see that coming. This will not be the end for COVID vaccines. Most likely we will need another booster and/or even annual vaccines while this virus mutates. It would be a good move for everyone to evaluate the very different roll outs in WV and ND, so that when the mass vaccinations going forward are needed, we are better prepared and organized. You owe no apology.

Where I went today was gamecock park, and it was a drive through. When ever I got the vaccine, I was to wait 15 minutes before leaving, and a coot college professor was running my time out spot, and he told me that they had already given out 20,000 shots since 7:15 am, and it was 3 pm when I started my 15 minute wait time....

Whatever you say is your opinion, and I feel everybody should be entitled to their opinion regardless of how much someone disagrees with it bc they to are entitled to their opinion as long as they're not name calling bc someone's opinion is different from their own.
I've never cared much for Henry McMaster, but I was surely glad to have gotten my 1st covid vaccine today, and I will be making an appointment to get the second one in March.
But Clover, in no way has your opinion hurt my feeling at all, we all should be entitled to our own opinion regardless if it's popular or not!!! Go Tigers!!!!

Clover65 I was not offended by your previous post. I pray that you will get you 2nd vaccine shot very soon. My Dad is 86 and gets his 2nd shot tomorrow.
It takes a man of great character, integrity and sincerity to offer up an apology that IMO was unnecessary.
Keep those stories about Vietnam coming. I look for post from you, Joe21 and other Veterans everyday. I print and save them for my grandchildren.
