Why is Matt Luke not getting criticism

The OL cannot block Troy so that we can run the ball and Cade has D line in his face before the ball can get to his hands from center. He is also the co-offensive coordinator and assistant head coach. Until the o-line starts blocking the offense is not getting better.

We have 5 offensive coordinators and can't seem to coordinate much of anything.

Mainly because he didn't recruit most of these lineman currently playing.

Hopefully, there is some truth in your statement. I think that it is valid to say that as the offensive line goes, so goes the game against two good football teams most of the time. I would like to see more linemen recruited from inner city schools and rural country schools than small Christian-based schools. Before you jump all over my thinking here, I am a good Christian, my son-n-law is an Anglian minister, and I pray for wayward souls every night (mostly my own). However, I am talking football here, and anybody who played even high school ball knows the difference and remembers who they would rather face off when the whistle blows. Let's hope the next group of Matt Luke recruits just want to plant somebody and whisper a few choice words when they do...remember those times??!

Of course he is getting criticism because our O line has been getting whipped.

I thought this was previously covered, but you can’t expect the Philadelphia Eagles OL to succeed against a 5,6, and 7 man rush all night. We didn’t even really establish a run attack, but first and foremost the QB was THE issue against LSU. Not the OL.
Did the OL come out slow yesterday? Yup, as did the entire team. Did we finish strong, pushing them around in the second half.
So tell me again, how are we getting “whipped”?

It’s simple numbers ( and a little scheme also) but lsu brought pressure every single play bc they knew weren’t running the ball and we didn’t adjust with screens or the quick passing game to get going… also as mentioned before I thought these guys would be a little more dominant bc of the veterans we have but at the same time you can’t blame the talent level when he didn’t recruit any of them. IMO it boils down to all of it working together, including scheming plays to the strength of your team which I think we do a horrible job at… it’s like we have a plan and even if it’s clearly not working we keep with that plan and don’t make adjustments when the DC does on the opposing team. Hopefully the second half gave this offense some type of confidence and that’s all they needed to get going.

We didnt even give the OL a chance in game one.

In game 2, we started out like crap, obviously. But when we got our footing Cade showed out and Randall had 91 yards of SOLID runs in the 2nd half.
Missed assignments? Of course. You will not watch any game ever where you can’t find that.
We tightened it up and showed commitment to the run game, and we succeeded. Do that on both halves and Randall literally could have had over 200 yds rushing by himself.
Luke is one of the best OL coaches in the game today. Does that mean his guys should never miss an assignment? Of course not.
We fixed our blocking schemes in the 2nd half and pushed them around. We dominated the 2nd half like we should have the first.
LSU on OL? Nope.
Troy on OL. Maybe some to start but not to finish.
What’s the issue?

Randall had 91 yards in the 2nd half alone. We were pushing them around and we were just running the ball down their throats to close out the game.
We covered game 1. Cade. We hardly gave the OL a chance to establish the LOS, and the OL cannot be expected to cover 5-7 rushers every play.
This is an entirely false narrative.

Didn't our RB have 110+ yards ? Seems like Luke and the guys seem to have things going in the right direction.

The failed run attempts up until the 2nd half of the Troy game was not on the offensive line. It was 100% on Adam Randall because he was not taking the time to read his blocks. Once he figured it out, he began to roll and that should be resolved now. With a running game in place, Clemson should have room for a solid air raid. If the defense continues to keep teams out of the endzone then we will witness a sweep of the rest of the schedule.

He gets the benefit of the doubt because his resume' is admirable.
A coach with his pedigree should be able to cobble together a reasonably good unit given his cupboard wasn't completely bare.
We saw them make progress in just the small amount of time he has been here.
It's not unreasonable to expect continued progress. That has not happened
It also has not been unreasonable to expect a similar grade of progress to have been accomplished by CK that would parallel the progress he made year over year last season. This too has not happened.
It seems now that it would not be unreasonable to expect Riley , Luke , and Cade to all spend great amounts of time together to figure things out and get on the same page. There is time left. But little

I dont agree with this take -

You said you’ve seen progress since he’s been here, and then you say the progress stopped. When did the progress stop?
Riley, Luke, and Cade are privy to the game plan every week. I thought everyone knew that? Same as any program in the country - the entire staff partakes in game planning.
We’ve played two games this year. In game 1 we didn’t even try to really run. Pass blocking was as good as can be expected against 5-7 rushers every play. In game 2, the entire team was in a daze to start the game, but we took over in the 2nd quarter and mostly dominated from there. The OL pushed them around and gave Randall room, and Randall played like a true RB.
So when did the progression end?
P.S. - Cade has nothing to with OL progression.
