ESPN is desperate to keep the ACC afloat and intact.

I don't believe most of the good Clemson folk realize that with the ACC is on the ropes due to Clemson and FSU actively seeking court powers to break the conference contract. Not if, but when that happens, Disney will lose revenues as other conferences (B1G and SEC) scramble to pick up the TV revenues which abide FSU, Clemson, UNC and probably a few more with fair to good viewerships. That will demand bigger and bigger contracts between the two BIGS and the networks which buy their TV rights.

ESPN is driving the narrative that the SEC is not seeking to expand. For common sense understanding, who walks past a $100 bill laying on the sidewalk when they take their morning stroll?

ESPN owns the ACC right now. They are dumping on the ACC to make it appear to be worth less than true value.

I had a cousin who loved to buy old cars which had mechanical issues. He would repair them and replace a few part then sell them. When he spotted a car for sale he would have a couple of his friends go checkout the cars and offer the owners far less than the car was worth. That made stupid owners think less of their cars which made it easy for him to buy them far below their true value.

While some Clemson fans are bags of nerves over ESPN's lobbying intended to devalue ACC teams, Clemson BOT is not so naive as to buy into their hype. They know exactly how to handle this situation and probably saw all the tears and sweat ESPN is shedding before the lawsuit was filed.

ESPN doesn't coach, they don't suit up and play and the only control they have is over the SEC. I suspect they are already speculating on how much they intend to increase the SEC paycheck when Clemson and FSU are being offered memberships to their beloved SEC.

I imagine Fox is speculating on their increased ratings if they can entice one or two ACC schools to the B1G. It's called the darkest before dawn. It will be over soon enough and a new day will began so relax in the realization that ESPN is suffering the risk of losing it's love child birthed with Swaffie.

I would be less than thrilled to join the SECheat

I will be less than thrilled after 5 or so years adding up of the coots making twice as much as us building an edge in our rivalry. Clemson-USC will become more like the one sided Georgia-GT rivalry.

ESPN got a steal of a deal from Swofford on the ACC broadcasting rights.

They don't want the ACC to dissolve and ruin that. And they certainly don't need to promote the ACC to create pressure on the contract so they are desperately trying to keep the status quo.

because virtually all the ACC championships are played in NC. Moving the ACC from Greensboro to Charlotte was just so the Gen Z d bags that run the ACC could eat a better restaurants, nicer homes, easier to fly in and out of.

News from USuC...
"Richardson was the 20th Gamecock arrested since Spurrier was hired in Nov. 2004"

Fluxus®
"As I watched the game yesterday I couldn't help but feel crushed. We beat Furman by 4 TDs, but to me it looked like we got whipped."

"George Bush, we are reliably informed by the media, has the IQ of a moron, though how he matriculated from Yale and Harvard or flew an F-106 will remain an unexplained mystery. Doubtless his father bribed the airplane to fly itself."

As much as I'd like to not join the SECheat...something has to happen to

normalize college football. Clemson is gonna have a tough time competing with the money disparity and the rampant, unchecked bias in college football. There are (2) mob bosses, to an extent (4) w/ B10 and Fox, that are overvaluing certain teams while denigrating the other 100.

Clemson averages between 1.5-2 million viewers in the ACC. The game against UGA was almost 8 million.

The other ACC schools not named Clemson and FSU are lucky to average 1M. Sure, they got a good price for the ACC but airing big matchups is what earns revenue. Clemson or FSU with 4 solid matchups a year equals the viewership of an entire ACC season.

I did not know those details.

Thankyou for sharing that.

I think it's naive to believe that ESPN doesn't want to continue with the TV rights to Clemson and FSU. It comes from those who think with their belly rater than a heathy respect for economics.

Frankly, I prefer the SEC over the B1G due to extended travel for fans and the temperatures up north.

Clemson is not going to be competitive enough to move out of the ACC unless we start playing the same nil/portal game as others. We are struggling to get our 9 and 10 wins in our own conference. Also, we need to stop going out of conference and playing Georgia and LSU. The committee is looking mainly at your record. If we get blasted by Georgia and LSU then we ate swimming up hill and we have no room to not show up one game as Louisville.

Don't hyjack a thread with NIL/portal talk.

If you have a subject worthy of attention you wouldn't be harping on it by threadjacking.
