the issue is less this year's results and more the general trend of the past 5.

IF Dabo pulls us out and we climb the mountain again... fantastic.
But so far the trend is obviously down and now is accelerating.
So yes, we would have ALL signed up for the totality of Dabo's tenure(2 national titles and so many ACC is obviously historic levels of good).

But those national titles are getting further and further in the rear view, and current results are putrid so you can hardly be mad at fans for noticing that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The previous 4 years we averaged 10 wins per year.

That “trend” was a consistent flat line that led to one of the top 10 winners in the country. If we had a QB in all four of those years it would’ve been considerably better.

No, we didnt play for nattys, but the “trend” has been consistent winners.

This year is different. It’s not part of any “5 year trend”.

below is the 4yr MA win% for each year (include the 4yr b/c that encompass the variables of different classes). As you can see the trend drops substantially each year starting in 2021. You could do the exact same trend with point differential and you'd see a very similar trend.

2018: 93%
2019: 93%
2020: 91%
2021: 88%
2022: 83%
2023: 77%
2024: 74%
2025: 64% (in progress)

We are talking about the last 4.75 years, what is being called 5 years.

There isn’t any question we are not as good as we were 2020 and earlier, so that’s not even part of the equation.

The point is, and it’s fully accurate, there hasn’t been a steady decline.

You failed at math 101. Are you okay?

2021: 10-3, 0.769, 14th

2022: 11-3, 0.786, 13th. 2022 saw an increase from 2021 in both in wins and ranking. Obviously not a steady decline.

2023: 9-4, 0.692, 20th. 2023 saw a decrease in both wins and ranking from 2022. A one year decline and not a steady decline.

2024: 10-4, 0.714, 15th. 2024 saw an increase in both wins and ranking over 2023. Obviously not a decline.

2025: outside of the above. A steep decline. In one year.

You were wrong. Same as always.

I’m with you on your point but I also understand the other perception as well. In the 5 years prior to the last 5 (not counting this season) we averaged 14 wins per year, which is an incredibly high bar. Over the last 5 full seasons, the average wins per season is 10, which, by the numbers, is a significant drop off, but one that probably 80-85% of the programs in the country would still love to have.

This year, even though it is only one year, is more of significant concern because it was set up as a year that returned us to the glory days. The shocking results and fall off have us all concerned and questioning whether this is an anomaly or concerning trend.

I think we are all concerned it could be the latter, hence why we are hyper focused on how it will be addressed.

Sure, but we have been slipping for a bit and next year won't be a special year either as far as being a contender or anything like that. That is what people are pointing out. I am a huge Dabo supporter, but its not just 1 year.

Can he garuantee he won't suck next year?

Dabo gave us a garuantee for this season and it was a big gaslighting fib. For 5 seasons we saw the consistent decline, but Dabo just kept up the gaslighting.
