Can Clemson Football Fans Still Say They Travel Well?
Dec 12, 2012, 2:25 PM

Can Clemson fans really say they travel well? Word is Chick-fil-A Bowl tickets are not moving well right now. Auburn sold out their ticket allotment for the Georgia Dome game well ahead of Clemson. The Orange Bowl was poorly attended. I will concede that the ACC championship game was well attended in Charlotte in 2011.
As a fan, I will say as I get older, I find watching the games at home much more comfortable and affordable. In fairness the Orange Bowl was on a tough date for fans to attend. Also, ticket prices and gas prices keep increasing to a point where watching at home is makes much more sense. Additionally, the ticket office makes any fan think twice before buying through them.
Just want to hear people's take.

Most have just learned to buy tics directly from the bowl if they want good seats. The IPTAY allotment will only sellout when all the good seats are sold.

especially for bowl games, as folks are seeing through the bowl system BS more and more. Teams are having to go to the same 2 or 3 bowls over and over and the fans are getting tired of it.

Atlanta (especially Cobb County) is Auburn-east

they could have just about sold out the dome on their own. It wouldn't shock me if Auburn was the "2nd most popular" team in Georgia.
Speaking for myself, I'm just tired of the Georgia Dome...and its only a 30 minute ride for me. Its the same basic bowl year over year. Its basically the same matchup (even the CFA kickoff game is ACC/SEC) year over year. This is probably the best game we've had in a while, but its still basically the same game. The parking is easy to get to, but the lots suck.
I've said it before, the bowl tie-ins are killing the excitment for the bowls.

I think it's college football problem, not a Clemson problem.

is completely inelastic. Not so. There comes a point where fans just won't keep giving to support a program.

But I really don't have the money. That's the issue. Adding a 12th game didn't help, and taking away Thanksgiving weekend did not help.
Need time with family.
Also, getting old. Crap.

Based off of the pathetic show out at the OB...

no. And with the pathetic attendance the last 3 home games and all the Clemson fans who sold their tickets to coots, we don't have good home crowds anymore. Never thought I would see the day where Clemson fans would become soft and dispassionate about the football program. Sadly, that day has arrived.

I yhink the bowls are hurting themselves by providing only endzone, upper-level seats to the schools. It will reach a point when we all would rather watch the game from our sofa....killing the golden goose and I hope they realize it before we all stay home.

I can say tickets are pretty pricey right now, they are $20 more expensive than the Orange Bowl tickets were. This may be why a lot of us haven't purchased them yet. Hopefully I can slip one passed ole Saint Nick and get one for Christmas. That being said
Go Tigers! Pasadena or Bust!!
