Recruiting Braylon Staley

Competition is good for making everyone better. Receiver Braylon Staley says Clemson really wants him, but he sounds impressed that Tennessee is all over him. The best offensive lineman from SC in 2024 has committed to the chickens and another one Clemson has offered appears to be leaning that way too. FSU and the U have higher rated recruiting classes recently. However...
The Riley hire shows that Dabo is stepping up his game. Guy hates to loose. Tweaks in recruiting may be on the way to start getting the attention of more 5-star and local talent targets that have gone elsewhere that past couple years. I believe even better days are ahead. Any thoughts?

The best lineman in the state of SC. SC is not noted for great OL and having 2 in the same year is curious to me. Although we want both of them, it will be interesting to see how they pan out. I'm guessing one or both may grade out average.

Uhhhhh. Both of those linemen are elite(ish). Don’t downplay them just because our staff didn’t do what it takes to land them. I cannot stand losing quality to recruits to USC and Georgia! We need to get back to recruiting too 5 classes and developing that talent.

One of my biggest complaints lately has been that our recruiting has been terrible since the departure of BV and Tony Elliott, and I believe that it's bc Dabo has become to relaxed mainly bc of his armature hiring of two coordinators at once, and he was wanting to give them time to get their feet under them before he confronted them about the recruiting of lesser talent that we had been use to. I mean I can't make no other excuse for it!!!!

Top 10 according to some sites, but not all. 3-star running backs this year? Remember: "The Best Is The Standard".

Reasonable assessment unless you favor the "bury head in the sand" perspective. It does seem a little lax, as if they eased up or even took a bit of an extended vacation-

They like money more that winning.

Most will accept a much higher salary at one company rather than a lower salary at the top company in the industry.

Few years back we would offer instate prospects and we would (99%) get them. Hope we can get back to that. We to regain our edge. We have list it at this time.

In state talent doesn't mean it's the best talent. Take a look at the roster, Clemson recruits nationally. Some of you worry way too much.

Gotta own your state's ground. Clemson offered both, must have thought highly of them.

I believe the portal must eventually become a part of Dabo's

repertoire............and I don't mean the meaningless Hunter Johnson or Ghost of Bear Bryant transfers that'll never see the field............he doesn't need to have that be his "foundation" of talent/recruiting, but 3-5 strategic portal moves that upgrade talent in the areas of need would be extremely beneficial to our team.

As far as I'm concerned, we've yet to use the portal. I'm not convinced HJ even dressed out for some of the games.
