Clemson's first priority is to do things right. That comes from Dabo, but I hope Clemson never loses that focus. When the highest priority is winning, you are asking for problems. Sure, we need to adapt to some degree, but let us never cave to the expedient of buying athletes to win at all costs.

I am thankful to have Dabo leading the program.

Culture has always been first.

I’ve seen a lot of hand wringing over our recruiting lately. We are just inside the top 20 in NIL funding. We are not going to get the recruits that are just in it for the money. We will be hard pressed to have a top 10 much less a top 5 class in this current environment. I do however believe that recruiting character and selling culture are the best ways for us to remain a top program in this new college football landscape. I’m glad we have the right leadership to navigate this and with this leadership these kids can achieve much more on and off the field than their recruit ranking would have ever suggested they could.

It’s almost like starting a business then making a decision to hire temp employees or to look, research and hire potential long term employees to grow the vision of your company.

Sometimes there is a need for a temp employee but the long term goal is good, dedicated individuals to sustain the future.

If you commit to play football at a University without even having made a visit you ought to receive an official exemption on having to enroll in classes.

If it is politically correct to say, our success is much simpler than all of that. All you have to do is look at all the academic records we set and it is very easy to realize that Dabo and staff recruit a different breed of young men. Character matters and we recruit character.
