I am not positive about this, but I think a Sen. Strom

Thurmond should get a statue placed in front of the new football facility. I am fairly certain that he demanded those tow dikes be constructed so that part of Clemson,( Beautiful Tiger Field, The new complex, the moats, etc.) would not be under water. Now, many, many years later it has become possibly the best recruiting tool in the country.

I wish we would make an aerial video that shows more of the lake , and when the blimp comes they
don't show much either .

Showing off the lake is good for Clemson .

Strong Burbon

Didn't he fight integration? He changed as he got older,

Jan 15, 2017, 10:36 AM

but there is no way the university would ever deal with the headaches of giving him a statue at this time. What would be the upside?

Just remember, no politician ever says what they mean. They say what the electorate wants to hear. Therefore, no politician even deserves a statue.

The archives and historical research building on campus is named the Storm Thurmond Institute, so they seem to be pretty okay with him. I did a fair amount of research there when finishing my Masters. Yes, Thurmond was a key leader of the Dixiecrat Party.

Strom liked to dip his cookie into 16 year old

chocolate sauce. Usually how it goes with racists like him....the black women were good enough to still bang according to ole Strom.

No way. Not worth the political hurdles or criticism.

Jan 15, 2017, 1:19 PM

He already has a research building on campus named after him. That's plenty.
