That game yesterday was a classic....

Here's what I said in another post last week before the game, and I was basically correct:
"We'll see how it goes, but I wouldn't be surprised by something like 17-14 or 23-20...either direction".
I think that beating Clemson is a big deal for our season and our program. But we need it to carry over into the rest of the games. We have Temple next, and we need to take 'em one game at a time. We're not good enough to overlook anyone.
Haynes King is a tough son-of-a-gun, and our offensive philosophy is built around him as a dual-threat. It's what we do.
As for Clemson, you guys are not the program you were from 2015-2020. There's been a drop-off. Offensively, I'm not sure what you guys are trying to establish. Defensively, you're good. But your defense is being asked to carry your entire team, and that's too much.
Good luck vs Syracuse.

Congrats on beating us. Y'all were due. I have the utmost respect for Haynes King. He's what a true team leader looks like. Wish Clemson had someone like that leading our team.
But our defense has been the one thing carrying this program since 2021 and I knew it wouldn't last forever. I just never thought the offense would be this bad for 5 seasons straight now.

Can't disagree with anything you said. I hope Clemson can put it together and maybe catch you for a rematch in Charlotte if all goes well.

Congrats Smitty! You are one of the classiest opposing team fans on TNet. You guys have built to this and many of us here could see it coming. Disappointing season for us but certainly no heads should hang because you guys are a solid opponent. Good luck the rest of the way!

Congrats on the win. You guys are good and Haynes King is a dawg. Watch out for temple next week. Unfortunately you won’t get a lot of credit for beating them, but they are a good team. If the rambling wreck keeps rolling, playoffs are abound.
My hope is maybe, just maybe, we can turn it around and see you guys again in the ACCCG

If you consider a classic beating an overrated team that shouldn’t be near the top 25 at home on a last second field goal then yeah, congrats.
This Clemson team is a dumpster fire. GT is better than years past, but let’s not act like they just beat a true top 15 team.

I agree Clemson is not a top-15 team this year...

I just said the game was a classic, and that it was important for us to beat Clemson.
My reason for that is that it was extremely competitive and dramatic. And Clemson is a big rivalry for Tech fans. We haven't beaten Clemson in a long time, and it's a conference game. Thus, I think we need to beat you guys in order for us to move ahead as a program.
We have things to work on, IMO. But I like where we sit for this season...so far.

Yesterday was a heck of a ballgame.
IMO, it was more dramatic than the TN vs UGA overtime game. Overtime has become so commonplace that its ’drama factor’ has gone bye bye.
There was a can’t-choreograph-it growing drama for our game could not be equaled by a OT outcome. Sure, I wanted OT. But for sheer drama, the final Clemson TD drive, which are away much of the clock but (even without the benefit of hindsight) left maybe possibly just enough clock for Tech’s non-explosive / methodically dangerous offense to get 8n to FG range. Not really enough TO’s to be sure if getting there. Then, the crescendo was that GA Tech wasn’t really close enough for a high probability shot to win it, but maybe with a perfectly executed ‘fire drill’ / snap / protection / hold / kick combo, GA Tech might just possibly win it right there and then. 55 yards … started out looking wide right … then shifts slightly right for a somewhat close to the right upright ‘good!’ outcome.
And it all came together with zero on the clock.
I hated it, but cannot deny the drama. Again, one heck of a ballgame.

Out of the number of away games I've been to GT fans for the most part are nothing but class.
King is a baller, you have a tough physical team, it was back and forth and take away all the preseason nonsense and if I take away my fandom and just look at the game and you're 100% right. Good ol fashioned physical football that was back and forth. I hate the ACC for taking this game away from being played every year.
Also please for the love of god shut up the dogs in athens at the end of the year.
Bobby Dodd is a beautiful venue as always and the GT fans I was around were good folks. I've been to a handful of games down there and yesterday was the loudest I've seen yall be in the limited times I've been there. That team y'all have deserve all the fan support. We have spoiled millionaires, you guys have gritty guys putting their heads down to get the job done. And a heck of a coach who is an alum to boot.

Once upon a time when i was young Ga. Tech would beat CU every year, always at Grant Field and by a lot more than 3 points. Frank Howard, RIP, used to call it "Grant's Tomb".
