I wish him the best, but I thought he wanted to be a coach?

Not that he can’t still be a coach after football, but I was under the assumption that he came back to Clemson to go directly into coaching after last season.

Maybe after his time in the NFL. Can’t blame him for trying!

I don’t blame him at all, I just find it surprising.***

I was surprised too but it’s addressed in the article.

“Hunter actually thought he was done playing when he applied for that MBA at Clemson, but Swinney’s offer reawakened the passion that has always burned for football. The years at Northwestern – seeing action in nine games from 2019-21, highlighted in 2021 against Michigan State: 30-for-43 for 283 yards, no interceptions and three TD’s – left the pilot light barely flickering.“

Hunter deserves another try at football. He landed at Clemson when we had like 5 QBs and about 4 of them were pretty decent. I say never give up until All the doors are shut. Good luck to him!

and 500 other QB's are more talented and better prepared today to compete in the NFL than Hunter Johnson. This is a coaching move, so Johnson can check the resume he attended a pro camp for a tryout. Absolutely no chance. But no harm, no foul.

Go Get'em Hunter!

I wish him nothing but the best.

If he can play well enough to make the practice squad; he makes himself that much more valuable as a coach. He gets tutelage from some really good QB coach he can take into coaching with him.

Smart move on his part; no matter how slim the chances. I love that he is pursuing it.

Since most of the NFL Rookie Mini-Camps are held on a weekend over a couple weeks after the draft, H.J. can go and still continue his MBA. There is also a NFL 7 week Rookie Developmental camp he could possibly attend. Either way, by the time the Tiger fall practice rolls around, he'll know his direction.

I think he'll be good however it goes.
