Humphries question

Dec 5, 2013, 8:38 PM

He keeps getting a lot of blame for 2 turnovers. I've watched the play a few times on the first punt. Not only did Bryant pump into him, if you slow it down it looks like the ball grazed his shoulder pad as well. This may have been discussed and I understand the 2nd time was all on him.

Yeah but maybe with presence of mind you go and trap the ball

But did anyone notice the punt hitting Bryant's shoulder, not just Bryant pumping into Humphries?

Yes, I was at the game and I did notice it hit Bryant's shoulder. When I got home, I watched it again and again. That muff was all Bryant. He was out of position.

Our guys played well through the 3rd quarter and we had every opportunity to win that game - even with several no-calls by the refs. The game turned on the 4th and 1 off-sides jump by Grady Jarrett that wasn't called by the refs, either. I'll give Spurrier credit for getting away with it, but I don't like the way he did it one bit.... and I don't like the refs not calling it. The center jerked his left hand before the snap, which Jarrett bit on - OK it's a good call by Spurrier - nothing to lose - even if they had been called for it - just punt from a little further - no problem.

The rest of the 4th quarter issues are typical when a team is behind and desperate. We took unreasonable chances against a good team and paid the price - but at that time, we were about done anyway.

It's all on us, though and not on them. We had that game right where we wanted it....... and blew it.

We did have a better game plan this year and we did seem to be determined to run at Clowney - something I was glad to see. It worked. Next year, I'd like to see a better running game, with a big back off-tackle to set up the counter and dive. It's what we're missing.
