Huge positive with the Russel Athletic Bowl.

Dec 7, 2014, 3:56 PM

Although they crapped the bed against Okie State, this is a huge chance for Clemson to beat one of the traditional powerhouses of CFB.

Yes, I'd prefer a game against a ranked opponent but if you can't, why not play one of the big boys of college ball?

Even at 8-4, if we can take down the Sooners, it is huge for national perception and a step closer to becoming an elite program in the eyes of the nation.

This is a terrible game. We are playing an unranked team that is better than their record so the perception will be we should win because we are ranked and they are not. The problem with that is we need an injured freshman qb to accomplish that. If we lose to an unranked team it will be a disappointing ending to a decent year. I would trade with Louisville if I could and play a 6-6 Tn. in the MCB. It would still be an unranked opponent but a fun match up that would allow us to go ahead and get the surgery done on Watson and play the bowl game without him. The only thing that frustrates me is that as a major college program we have to play an injured freshman to have a chance to beat anybody half way good. I know we won games when he was out but does anybody think that's possible now. I don't know if its just bad luck or he is injury prone but I would recruit the best qb I could find. Watson is great and I think he could be one of the best ever at Clemson but this injury thing bothers me. I trust the coaches to build some depth at the qb position. If an old dummy like me sees it I'm sure they did a long time ago.

They addressed the QB depth problem. We have 2 4 star QBs enrolling in January.

And another 4 star QB in 2016***

I would never let Cole play in the bowl game.

I would play wildcat the whole game first, or let Scheussler play rather than Cole.

Our lack of depth at QB and why, has been discussed

ad infinitum here and elsewhere already. We have two really great freshmen coming in, in January. OhSt is showing how important depth at QB is.

Have not been on top of our recruiting lately like in the past. Who are they. I think Watson is the real deal I just hope all the injuries are bad luck. We have a victory over the Sooners in a bowl game under Coach Ford.
