My freshman year was 1974. We beat GA and GT for the first time. Charley Pell started something (so did Tates Locke). Unfortunately, we got in some deep.doo door, but it was upward and wonderful. It got to the point where we all expected to win 'em all every year.
Then Max Lennon happened. Ken Hatfield, Tommy West, Tommy Bowden. Now we're almost at that point again. Wonderful times.

Made a bet on every game with a chicken fan that season and even went double or nothing on the Tarheel game cause he thought no way we would win that game. Well after a hard fought 10-8 win I definitely had some extra coin to spend. If I'm not mistaken, coach Ford hung a piece of paper in each locker with Carolina Blue on it so the players would hate that color by game time.

is going into Columbia while we're still undefeated.
You never want to lose, nor do you ever want to lose to the Coots,
but you really, really don't ever want to lose to those clowns
by letting them ruin an undefeated season.
There were a lot of Tiger hearts that had missed more than a beat
as the Coots went up 7-0 with a 1st quarter TD in the 1981 game in Willy-B.
Overall it was a beautiful day to play football;
but the unspoken horror of a possible Coot win to spoil the Orange Bowl dream
hung like the stench of the nearby fair-ground pigsties over the field.
And then a Johnny Rembert TD-recovery of a Rod McSwain blocked punt
jolted us back to life, and signaled the end of any real Coot hopes.
I look forward to hopefully being 11-0 going into Willy-B this year -
just don't expect me to actually breathe any between kick-off and a 20-point Tiger lead.....

unless you don't have high expectations. We lose to FSU or Coots and all this is meaningless. ACC champ game will likely face UNC. Imagine if we lost that one. Then 2 playoff teams.....long....long way to go

Darius Rucker got the name, 'cause Hootie did BLOW as a football coach.) We have been 8-0 a couple of times in recent memory, but this time is different in a couple of major areas.
1) We have a stout defense, with a coordinator who makes great in-game adjustments.
2) We have a great offense, with coordinators who also make great in-game adjustments.
Our previous 8-0 teams, seems like to me we were doing it with smoke and mirrors on one side of the ball or the other. If the original game plan wasn't working, we struggled to adapt. This team is capable of beating opponents so many ways, and is capable of finding the one that works best on any given day.
This week, it is true again, toughest, most important game of the season. There will probably be a Crusty Crablegs sighting on the sidelines, so let's greet him and the rest of the Criminoles rudely.
GO TIGERS!
