I'm not saying it won't work either. It worked with the offense until this year. This year's woes on offense are due to poor recruiting strategy. As long as Dabo corrects all of this I'll stay happy.

I agree. I think we win and finish around 15th in the country. I'll take that as a down year all day every day. If Clemson doesn't win another championship in my lifetime I'll be happy with what coach Swinney did. I earnestly thought for most of my life that I'd never see Clemson win another national championship.

I'll get thumb downed by the sunshine pumpers, but I'll be straight to the point.
If its Bates on defense, I'll be slightly disappointed, but okay on the whole. I think we're one of the most desirable programs for an elite defensive coordinator to come. We have an immensely talented defense and have recruited very well on that side of the ball. We could be a clear launching point for a great defensive coordinator to propel themselves to a head coaching job, similar to Alabama's coordinators. I don't think Bates has shown he can run an entire defense like some of the other coaches we could get, but he's a #### good coach and a huge reason for why we've enjoyed the success on defense we've had. I think we can do better, but Bates would not be a terrible option.
If Dabo hires Streeter on offense, I will be furious. Streeter is hands-down our worst coach who has actively hurt all of our QBs except Deshaun, who had to hire a private passing coach to avoid his toxic influence. I've also heard from people close to the program that he's a yes-man who doesn't have the respect of a lot of the staff. Clemson is already disadvantaged in the world of the transfer portal (because of Dabo's views on it) and NIL (we don't have as many rich alums or the exposure of some other teams). If Dabo promotes Streeter, it will tell me he's satisfied with his achievements thus far and is content to let us fall into mediocrity, which will be inevitable.

Dabo can afford to "take a chance" on an unproven DC, but not OC.

You guys keep talking about TE leaving like anyone wants him? TE is talking about leaving but I don’t see much action or offers coming in, more like him going for an interview and throwing his name in the pot! He is the reason we sucked all year and most likely the reason we lost BV. You orange glass wearing fans might not can see it but trust me, the rest of college football does.

I'll b e disappointed if we hire from within for either coordinator position. It is not that I necessarily think we do not have somebody that can do the job. I just don't think that Dabo is capable of staying unbiased when making the hires. To me, he needs to start hiring people that he doesn't have a close personal connection with so that he can be objective about their talents.

When Venables was hired after the Orange Bowl in early 2012, the only Defensive coach to depart Clemson for the 2012 season was Kevin Steele. If Dabo wants an outside DC he'll get one and IMO, if the other D coaches want to stay, Dabo will keep them for continuity. Things may slowly change but it doesn't have to be a wholesale gut job. The defense was not broken.

Thing is, an internal promotion to DC means most of the assistants stay the same. An external hire for DC means that most of the assistants (on that side of the ball) get canned as the new DC would most likely want to get assistants he knows. Does that influence Dabo any?
Just a thought.
