What do you think about these NFL wildcard games?

Terrible games.

I thought the Raiders/Bengals game was a good game. Also, I loved watching the Patriots get their butts stomped last night. I also agree that the Eagles do not belong in the playoffs!

Yesterdays games were good. Patriots got a historical beatdown. Bengals Raiders game was just fun to watch.

So historical beatdowns are good.

That means we can add 31-0 over Ohio and 30-3 over Notre Dame to the list of good games in the CFP semifinals?

No definitely not. Good for Clemson and to select few outside of that, yes. Considering it's Ohio State and ND (2 generally designed teams). But it's nice to see historically good playoff teams get a overdue beatdown. That's generally a good thing like when we beat Bama 44-16. Bama owning the playoffs needed that beatdown and was nationally liked game. It's good to give the bluebloods of sports beatdowns occasionally.

A fair comparison would be that Tom Brady is the Alabama equivalent to the NFL. What gets stale is when Alabama for example goes in and annihilates everyone in the semi's. It's no different than the NFL and Tom Brady scenario. He just annihilates everyone he plays against. The times they lose, it's generally not his fault since Brady can't be the entire team.

It's not like the Patriots fell off the deep end to the very bottom after Brady's departure though. They still have Belichick and had a very good defense that just had a bad time.

I guess what I'm saying is that, it is good to see on occasion depending who is on the receiving end of the beatdown but not every game, every year.

I actually made a post about this after the Semi's this year and tallied up how many good games there actually were in the semi's. Then asked the question "Does the playoff actually need to expand to be more enjoyable?" It came to some astounding number like 3 good games out of all the semi-final games that have been played. So 3 out of 16 semi's were actually good on the edge of your seat fun to watch.

It's apples to oranges with NFL and College though. I don't think CFB could adopt the NFL playoff style and be successful, it would actually make it far worse actually.

Got it. Just trying to figure out why blowouts are good in the NFL.

I don’t care for it at all.
But thanks for trying to explain.

Forgot to add. College footballs problem is that it is too top heavy. Every year there's always 2 or 3 programs that are just head and shoulders above the rest of the country and won't lose their 1st or 2nd game unless it is to another top team.

UPDATE: 5 games in…

1 good (Cowboys-49ers)
1 decent (Raiders-Bengals)
3 crappy blowouts

Why do they even play these games?
