One win with the best roster in 14 years, and one that will be severely depleted next year, isn’t really what a guy making a near top 40 salary should be doing.

Not all top 40 teams make the round of 32, much less the sweet 16. I took a few math classes at Clemson that helped me figure this out.
Please ponder this.

He wasn't going to get fired after making the NCAAs.
Realistically, making the round of 32 is meeting or exceeding expectations.
Everything after this is a bonus.
Honestly, if it wasn't for the fanboys I don't think people would be nearly as negative about Brownell.
I don't see him ever making us a consistent top 25 team, but that's as much talent level on the team as anything else.

This is absolutely correct. Brownell has made Clemson competitive, but he’s no where near great. I do think his time is probably coming to an end within the next few years unless something incredibly unexpected happens before then (mainly, making it to the title game). I think next season’s results will greatly impact his length of stay.

The big question is whether Brownell's Year 15, 16, 17 will be any different than Years 5, 6, 7? Or Seasons 10, 11, 12?
Or, will they look more like Season 8? The pinnacle of Brownell's career at Clemson?
Last time Brownell had success in the NCAAT, back in 2018, we entered a string of 16 or 17-win seasons and 8th, 9th and 10th place finishes in the ACC, with one decent season (5th ACC) hampered by COVID and one-and-done in NCAA.
Time will tell, and it certainly seems we will have Brownell Season 15, at least.
