Word out of LSU camp

The O-line is white hot garbage. LSU insiders are beating their chests that they may have the best D-line in the SEC, when a few weeks ago it was considered average. Anyway, they replace 5 starters, although one is moving from guard to center. Their tackles have a combined 2 games of starting experience and fewer smaps between them than our starting right tackle. That said, their front 7 will be the best we see all year. LSU arguably has the best LB tandem in the country, but they are also relying on transfers from NC State and VT on the back end, as well and a tranfer edge rusher from FSU. This will be a game between one team looking to find its identity, vs a team with a lot of continuity and confidence playing at home.
I'd take that 3.5 now

I’ve read some of this also. I’ve also seen that their LBs are not producing as much as they should. Perkins took a step back last year from what I’ve read. I see mixed views on their boards, lot of confidence… lots of pessimism as well.
They don’t think we have the team to compete with them. I’m buying our camp hype, hope I don’t eat crow Week 1. Go Tigers

Absolutely not. He has been making plays all throughout camp.. nearly every day.
The front 7 has been suffocating. Remember the name Bernard Gooden, a DL transfer from USF. He has been the breakout performer through 9 days of practice. He's smaller 6-2 280 but they cannot block him.
This is not an indictment on the OL either.. they are making plays and holding their own in 1 on 1 and smaller team drills but 11 on 11 the front 7 has imposed their will...
I will say the offense has been explosive. As an LSU fan I'd love to see more consistency from the offense but the explosive plays are promising.

That's a fair fan assessment, which is all we are.

It's also fair to be curious how good the starting LSU DL will be against a vet OL group under Luke.
None of the fan speculation means anything, but it's all fun to talk about.
All in all, I think it will be a good game.
Tigers win.

That's fair. Just remember we have recruited pretty well there.. few 5* Sophmores ready to break out.
We also won the portal with highly sought out names like Patrick Payton, the aforementioned Gooden, and Jack Pyburn.
Lastly, Kevin Peoples may be the best DE coach in the country as far as coaching technique. Transformed Swinson into a 2nd team all SEC player last year.

Rub them together and 😑
Maybe, maybe not, but I'm not at all impressed with the LSU OL against our front.

It is a fair question to ask in early August.
Anyway, we bring back pretty much everyone, and I am pretty sure they aren't harboring fugitives.

Take it from a fan who bought into coaches speak that “the offense is actually really good, the defense is just that dominant.”
It’s usually not that case.
We had a staff preach to the fan base to not worry about the offenses struggles because the defense was just going to be that good and the offenses came out and were completely terrible.
Not saying that’s always the case. Just saying that in personal experience, that’s the case more times than not.

Just don't turn the ball over. 4+ turnovers make a lousy team look like world beaters.

I wouldn't say garbage. The defense is ahead of the offense for sure. Guards are struggling to keep up with smaller, faster DL. Some of these camp drills are geared toward the defense anyway. Many times they know a run is coming, that the offense is working on a particular run scheme and can just pin their ears back.
There is plenty of talent on both lines of scrimmage but it may take a little longer for the O to come together. Our center transfer for V.Tech Braelon Moore has showed out. Shown the propensity to get to the next level and spring big runs. But the guards need work.

I don't even this Braelon Moore was even honorable for ALL ACC at Vtech in 2024. I think you might have some trouble with the noise and our DT's.
