How do teams continuously keep adding to their roster

after they signed a full class on signing day?
I keep seeing UGA, Ole Miss, Oh St adding multiple players. You can’t tell me they were not already at 85 scholarships.
And I realize players transfer away but dang it just seems crazy.

They get rid of players off the "bottom" of the roster.

I guess the one positive of the portal is that it gave players a place to inform other programs that they just got their scholly yanked and are now available. Running off players has been around a long time.

Easy. They get rid of the people on the bottom of the roster not contributing in a big way. They want to win now, because with the portal it’s hard to develop anyone before they transfer

You have to be at 85 by fall enrollment. They have a time to weed out the roster and encourage players to enter the portal.

This whole thing is disgusting from top to bottom. I use deon for example bc he is the face of portal scum. This greed and playing for 1 person and leaving ur brothers behind is the reason I don't enjoy pro sports.
Growing up it was uncommon for ur favorite players to change teams. There was some semblance of loyalty from owners to players. I really understand why pro sports have unions.
This is college and these are kids. I'm all for making sure they get enough to make sure they aren't worried about families eating or rent paid but this nil is causing some major locker room animosity.
Hope these kids are being guided correctly because most of them won't see a dime from the nfl.

How do you know schools are over the 85 limit? Don't worry about things you cannot control because life is hard enough without it.

Coach: Well, that's a shame because I do not see you playing any downs over the next 2-3 years.
Player: What do you recommend Coach?
Coach: Well, if you can hold that tackling dummy, you can be a scout team/practice player for our more talented and hungrier players.
