She’s a well spoken, gorgeous woman, her contemporaries are not (Andrea Kramer, Erin Andrews voices are kind of annoying/not really what you want in a host. Sam Ponder is hosting, gorgeous and well spoken as well. May not love her stances on a lot of things, but she’s good at her job and talented.

Looks are the biggest factor., but they have to sloghtly get it. They can no everything though, but it's looks. They keep a couple of average looking ones around just to avoid lawsuits.

IMO, she was in the right place at the right time, worked hard and looked good doing it, kept her head down and mouth shut and remained pleasant when other people didn't, only spoke out when she knew she had her bosses' support, and then explored her options when ESPN refused her high salary demands (which she only made knowing she had NBC in her pocket.)
A former athlete knows those are the ways you prove yourself to your peers, coaches and bosses.
She is polarizing in the sports journalism field, to be sure. Both white females and black males have criticized her for getting advantages they never had, but their criticism neglects to say what benefits she was given that she didn't earn. I've never heard her speak out of turn or against a peer; though she's never had to, either, because it seems she has always been protected until her salary negotiations last year.
I didn't have a problem with her at ESPN. When Kelly B said that stupid stuff, she reported it; she never tricked him into it. And if he thought she was into him and sympathetic even though she's 10 years older, he's more the fool.
I haven't kept up with her since she went to NBC, so some things may have changed.

Don’t have any reason to watch NBC.
Last I checked they only cover niche sports so they don’t have to invest as much in Talking talent.
Going from ESPN to them is like going from P5 to G5, but if she got a hosting gig that’s a step up. Besides, ESPN expects their studio people to clash a little bit—she doesn’t strike me as the type who likes to argue.
I’m not saying I agreed with the few social opinions she expressed last year, but she didn’t seem belligerent to me. I know Jason Whitlock doesn’t care for her much, but he’s conservative—and male—so I wonder what we expect from black females?

Does a great job. I’ve liked her since the 1st time I saw her. You don’t see completely unattractive women on these broadcasts because they know men are their target audience. We all know why they are there. They have a “leg up” on equally knowledgeable women who are not as attractive. It’s really kind of pukey but it’s the way of the world.
