Group of 5 school (Boise State) and one that is only one season removed from the G5 (SMU). Should that not have been the #1 team Oregon's path?

I don't know. I've watched a ton of Boise State and Penn State over the years and thought Boise could win that game.

The system is flawed and needs to be changed. I have no problem with the automatic bids, but the committee needs to have the ability to seed them 1 through 12 regardless of the automatic bids. The conference championship bids need to stay to make the conference championship mean something. We would not have been in the CFP if not for the automatic bid as a conference champion.
I have mixed feelings on the first-round home sites. If we had hosted, we would have been thrilled. Yet, it limits the number of seats for visiting teams and is a definite advantage. I wonder if 16 slots so all had to play in the first round would be better. That would be 8 teams hosting on home sites.

Won’t matter as their next two games will be very difficult. There are not 12 or even 8 NC caliber teams so this will happen every year. No doubt Herbie and the ESPN crew will continue to use this to push for more SEC teams.
